11/10/05 TV: what's new, what's cancelled, what's been picked up

Finally with November sweeps underway, here's a refresher on the status of all 31 new series this fall:

FULL SEASON ORDERED (all 22 episodes unless noted) - "Bones" (FOX), "Commander-In-Chief" (ABC), "Criminal Minds" (CBS), "Everybody Hates Chris" (UPN), "Ghost Whisperer" (CBS), "How I Met Your Mother" (CBS), "Invasion" (ABC), "My Name Is Earl" (NBC, 24 episodes), "Out of Practice" (CBS), "Prison Break" (FOX), "Supernatural" (The WB), "The War at Home" (FOX)

ADDITIONAL EPISODES ORDERED - "Surface" (NBC, TBA additional episodes), "Three Wishes" (NBC, six additional episodes)

ADDITIONAL SCRIPTS ORDERED - "E-Ring" (NBC, three additional scripts), "Killer Instinct" (FOX, three additional scripts), "Kitchen Confidential" (FOX, three additional scripts), "Reunion" (FOX, four additional scripts), "Threshold" (CBS, three additional scripts)

CANCELED - "Head Cases" (FOX), "Inconceivable" (NBC), "Just Legal" (The WB), "Sex, Love & Secrets" (UPN)

NO ADDITIONAL EPISODES OR SCRIPTS ORDERED - "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart" (NBC), "Close to Home" (CBS), "Freddie" (ABC), "Hot Properties" (ABC), "Love, Inc." (UPN), "Night Stalker" (ABC), "Related" (The WB), "Twins" (The WB)

PLUS It's not looking good for "Arrested Development" or frosh laffer "Kitchen Confidential."

Fox has cut back its episode order on the critically-admired "Arrested" to just 13 segs, down from 22. Producers of "Kitchen," meanwhile, have been told the show won't be getting a full-season pickup.

More worrisome: Fox is pulling both shows from the schedule, effective immediately. "Arrested" returned from a month-long hiatus this week, while "Kitchen""Kitchen" was slated to return Monday.

Instead of the two laffers, Fox will air repeats of drama "Prison Break" in the 8-9 p.m. Monday slot for the rest of the November sweeps. It's presumed "Arrested" and "Kitchen" will return to finish out the remainder of their runs in December. Come January, net has long planned to move "House" into the Monday slot.

Fox wasn't commenting Thursday morning, and for now, nobody's using the word "cancellation." But in the case of "Arrested," the handwriting appears to be on the wall."

Very interesting! I love Reunion though and if it gets canceled, we'll never know what happened. It's interesting how they did it, every episode is a new year.

All right "everybody Hates Chris" is'nt going to be cancelled!

That's the only good show ON UPN.

That show is laugh out loud funny and one of the only bright spots on TV.
How can they even THINK about taking it off??? WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY THINKING??
