This is the best original theme tune ever.
Parents of today beware- your kids aren't growing up with good music.

Theme songs I remember from my childhood:
"Growing Pains"
"Friends"
"Fresh Prince"
"Brotherly Love".. this really cheesy show on Disney I doubt anyone here has watched.
"Gullah Gullah Island".. again, a show probably no one else watched..

I'm over the theme song actually. I'm more impatient nowadays. I'd rather just get right into the show. Thats why Seinfeld is good; no theme song.

Even though there were no words, I loved the Sanford and Son intro .. sometimes it just still gets stuck in my head for no reason...
and of course, Cheers, Greatest American Hero and Laverne and Shirley ..

Does anyone remember George (from Seinfeld) answering machine?
He had the similiar tune to Greatest American Hero.

I like the ORIGINAL Monk theme. That was brilliant and perfect and melancholy and hopeful at the same time. Then Randy Newman is all "OMG I HAVE OCD AND I'M AFRAID OF EVERYTHING AND I AM GOING TO SPELL IT OUT FOR YOU".....Randy Newman sucks. Jeff Beal's instrumental theme is much much much better.

Hey I was just thinking about this last night, about how the 2005-2006 season was really the last of the theme songs. Prison Break was the last I saw (and it's pretty cool). Now shows like Heroes and Brothers & Sisters, they just skip the theme for more time, which is fair enough I guess in this age of cutting down shows. Why, back in the '90s, Northern Exposure went for roughly 45 minutes. Now we're down to 41/42, sometimes even 39! Soon an hour show will be 29 minutes long or something.
But as for actual songs in opening credits, I guess... Smallville was the last I saw? That I can think of. I'm wrong as always. I can tell.
