    Default Pride and Prejudice

Saw it today - familiar story of course but nice to see the more realistic 'rustic' stuff like pigs in the kitchen, mud and domestic chaos. Keira Knightly is charming as the heroine, and gets her English accent almost 100% right. Poor old Donald Sutherland as Mr Bennett gives a great performance but those Canadian vowels kept popping through which is a pity. I maintain that VERY few US/Canadian actors can pull off a convincing English accent which is bad enough in contemporary drama, but hearing a 18th Century English country gentleman speaking like a guy from, say, Toronto [duck and cover] is a tad disconcerting. Overall 8/10.

Lol, I'd hope she'd get the British accent right, since she's from the UK

I do want to see this, though. I just read a book, "Pride, Prejudice, and Jasmin Field" which was a fun little parallel to the original. Made me want to watch it again.

I refuse to see this. The BBC production from a few years back was absolutely perfect and fab. There was no need to remake this other than KK wanted to push her tits into our faces. She is annoying.

I SO agree with you, you made me come out of the lurking-mode!!
I HATE Keira Troutface and she was totally wrong for Pride and Prejudice.
Way too skinny. Girls of Elizabeth Bennets standing did not have the skeletor look in those days, it just wasn't fashionable to look like you hadn't eaten a proper meal in years.
There's only one Lizzy and there's only one Mr. Darcy.
Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth. They sparked.

Hell no. I refused to see it too.
I was like, this is no P&P without Colin Firth.
