Dexter on Showtime
Can't wait for this to premier Oct 1st at 10 pm on Showtime. It is a one hour drama starring Michael C. Hall (Davis Fisher on 6 Feet Under). He is a charming and brilliant forensics detective in Miami who also happens to be a serial killer who murders criminals (rapists/pedophiles/killers) who would otherwise have escaped justice through the law. He was traumatized as a kid and channels his own homicidal drive by killing others who deserve it. I can't believe how hot and sexy he looks to me now. He is such a phenomenal actor.

I read both books and watch the show.
The books are good and the show follows pretty close with a few enhancements.
The second book was better than the first so I'm hoping for a season 2.
I just wonder if they're going to change the ending....

I downloaded this and just finished watching the first season. I am hooked, it's such a good show and I am in absolute love with Michael C. Hall. So, so hot. Even though he plays a serial killer. Well, a serial killer with a sense of morality of sorts. But he's still a hot serial killer.
At first it grossed me out, but I've ended up loving the opening sequence of the violent, blood-themed breakfast. And the best is the shot of his Sexay Eyes at the end. Is it wrong that blood oranges, ham and eggs and hot sauce turn me on now?
I just looked up the differences between the novel and the TV series, and I didn't like how in the novel *highlight to read spoiler here:* he helped his brother Brian escape at the end. I much prefer the TV ending where he kills him "for the safety of my sister." And in the same signature Ice Truck Killer manner, that was tremendously satisfying. Also apparently he helps his brother kill LaGuerta in the novel, which I think I might have liked in the show as she was such a huge bitch to his sister throughout so much of the season. One thing I don't understand is that in the novel his sister finds out he is a killer--how does the author reconcile this in the next book? Makes me want to read the next book while waiting for the second season.

Lurve, lurve, lurve this show!! I also really liked the actor, Christian Camargo, who plays Rudy. He looks a bit like Mark Anthony but I like him anyway. lol
My fiance loves his blood spatter pictures and would absolutely buy some if he could. I haven't decided if this alarming or not...

Oooh, no I couldn't disagree with you more. I hated Rudy with a passion, there was just something so seedy and hateful about him, you wonder if anyone can really act that well. He looks like he truly is evil. I remarked to my husband that if I saw him in real life, I'd want to shank him in the face. And his resemblance to Marc "Skeletor" Anthony doesn't help either. Maybe he just has "bad guy" face, like he could make a living playing Colombian drug lords.
I also really, really hated LaGuerta until the last episode or so, after she *spoiler* got canned/demoted. That made her a tiny bit more sympathetic, but before then I wanted to punch her in the face too for being such a bitch to Debra and for being so gross and sexually harrassing Dexter.

I posted this info in another thread, but the actor that plays Rudy (Christian Camargo) is the son of the actress that played Rachel Cory on the old soap Another World.

So not really a Colombian drug lord then, huh? Was she hispanic? Did he get the creepy look gene from her or his father? *I kid, I kid*

Yes, his mother is Mexican. Apparently his grandfather was a famous Mexican actor.

Aw, I'm Mexican too. Now I definitely can't shank him in the face.
Actually, that's interesting, I'll have to look him up and see what else he's done.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?!! lololol. Man, my nanny watched Another World when I was a kid. That is awesome!! lolol
Beeyotch, I love him in that way you love a really good villian. I just thought he did a fantastic job playing that character!!
I disliked the character of LaGuerta too. I didn't care for the actress playing the part and never got past this:
Man, she just looks too much like Tootie.

 at the Tootie comparison!
Tootie was a lot cuter, though, and slightly less bug-eyed. I bet as adults they look like twins...But yeah, still don't like that actress as LaGuerta. Too bad she doesn't die like in the book.

I can't stand Deb and was hoping that Rudy was going to off her before Dexter could save her. Too bad that he got there in time.
I read on another board that the 2nd season isn't going to follow the 2nd book, which is fine with me. I didn't really like the books that the show is supposed to based on. They were poorly written in my opinion.
