Watched the latest series of Peaky Blinders. Pretty good series, bit of a flat finale episode though imo. Loved the casting apart from the new guy with a dodgy Scottish accent.

    is anyone watching 'unbelievable'?
it's based on the case of a real life serial rapist but unlike most shows, the focus is on the detectives and the victims, rather than the detectives and the criminal, so it's a nice change. merritt wever is fantastic as one of the main detectives, toni collette is pretty great too though her character is written as a bit of a cliché, and the girl who plays marie adler, the rape victim coerced into saying she made up the whole thing, is phenomenal. the show itself is pretty good despite some moments that are a little 'after school special'-ish - the show makes some excellent points but is sometimes a bit heavy-handed about it.

I just read that Blythe Danner and Marilyn Manson are scheduled to be in Season 3 of Preacher. I'm turned off by the idea of Manson and intrigued by Blythe. I still don't know if I will watch season 3 because I'm still pissed that (spoiler) Sweeney is dead.

Yes!! We binged the last 4 episodes today, just had to see how it turned out. Really good series, very addictive.

I have Unbelievable on my list.

I watched Marianne when I've not been feeling well lately and it wasn't bad but there were parts that dragged and I didn't find it super scary. But it was OK.

I'm finally watching Mindhunter season 2.

I want to try Carnival Row and that new one on Netflix with David Tennant next.

Does Marianne get better after the second episode? The first wasn't too bad, but the second just completely lost me with the constant confusing "is it real or her imagination" stuff going on.

I guess I would err on the side of it getting better. The main character is kind of unlikable to me, like if 1990s era Angelina Jolie played Bella Swan so I kind of didn't care about her like I should have. It's worth it for the scenery and ambiance I think..

I've watched Unbelievable too, and it really hit a nerve.
I've just talked about it in the new Rant trend, I also had an experience (not rape thank god, nothing as serious or devastating) where the cops refused to listen to me and take me seriously. And I knew my rights and was 10 years older than the main character in the series and yet I totally get her feeling of powerlessness and confusion
I nearly thought I wouldn't be able to watch a second episode, but I finally did, and this series is really good

Okay, might give it another try then. Agree about the main character, her parents bug me too. But I do like Camille, and the old lady is scary. I want to free that poor raven in the cage so badly, I was rooting for them to release him outside when they broke into the house.

Glitch season 3 started last night, that's another good one.

Beeyotch asked about We Have Always Lived in the Castle, so I watched. I liked it a lot. It's based on a story by Shirley Jackson, who wrote "The Lottery," and I think there were some similarities in how the townspeople hated the family. I'm not able to do spoilertext on my phone, so I'll just put a bit of space here...

I think the smile at the end meant that Mary Katherine finally got what she wanted, that they would stay there and not have to move and not have interference from relatives anymore? And it seemed like the townspeople would let them be now.

I really liked that blue bamboo wallpaper. I am tacky.

I binged Unbelievable in a few days. The acting was pretty great, especially from Kaitlyn Dever who played Marie Adler. Merritt Wever was just so calm about everything and I just wanted to be more calm, like her.

I love Merritt wever and yeah she has the most peaceful demeanour and soothing voice. She needs to narrate one of those meditation/bedtime apps.

I've been bingeing on "New Girl". I watched it once the first time around and couldn't get into her kooky schtick, but now I love it and think she's adorable and the show is hilarious.

I also started on "Knightfall" because I needed to fill the GoT/The Last Kingdom-shaped hole in my viewing life. It's a bit blah, seems most of the storylines have been pinched from a bunch of other shows, but I'll persevere in hopes it gets better, as Mark Hammill is apparently in season 2.

Oh and also started on Another Period - hilarious!

I tried too, because Mark Hamill, but god that was bad, I didn't even finish the 1st season.
And being a medieval history scholar and having extensively studied Philip the Fair's reign I just couldn't with the amount of historical nonsense.
And the guy playing Philip the Fair is nearly nowhere as handsome as I always pictured him (call me weird, I read the Accursed Kings when I was 10 and developed a huge fantasy crush of Philip the Fair )
