    Default Topgun Maverick (2020)

    Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

I woke up this morning and saw this.
Glad to see that Maverick looks battered.
Cant believe itís been 40 years and - let me just say - when I was living in SoCa playing with the fighter boys I *never* expected my life to turn out like this.

    Now Iím just depressed.

My ex (now deceased) LOVED the original Top Gun. I mean, never got enough of it. Watched it thousands of times, owned several copies over the years. I wouldn't watch this one if I got paid for it. I can hear the theme song and get nauseated.

I have never seen Top Gun, despite my father being a huge Tommy fan in the 80s.
Don't know how I managed to avoid this one

Well, I didn't hate it so bad the first 10 times we watched it, but the other trillion times over 22 years together--yeah. Fuck a buncha Top Gun.

Me and Nov will be at the theater for this one! I can't wait. I love the original. Never saw it on the big screen. I had 2 sons who loved it too. We must have watched it a million times. I will definitely be paying to see this. Glad to see he layed off the Botox and fillers for this.

The trailer has over 12 million views already. Since yesterday.

I am actually thinking of seeing this in the US with my friends from my early 20s. At one time I lived near this airbase (Miramara in San Diego), around the time Bitter was in SoCa too but our paths never crossed. My memories are of hot 20-somethings (myself included), fast cars, beach parties (at night) and some really shit music (sorry Kenny!). I was 21, living in SoCa and having a ball! The temperature was over 90, it was sunny and dry, I wore sunblock at all times and got sunburnt through my clothes for the first time....
My friend & I were talking about it only yesterday, for us it was a magical time and we’re still friends over 30 years later- this is what this film evokes for me.
In the last 30 years I have survived DV, stalking & attempted murder, survived cancer, loved and lost and gained 100lbs, so this film is more about my mis-spent youth than any yeeha for the cruise/military.
Oh and Val is in it!!!!

Sprynkles - I never saw the original on a big screen either, I would love to see this. There is an IMAX locally but I might throw up with the flight scenes......

Oh, IMAX! Yes! What a fun excuse to go visit your friends. I love it. After you see it in SoCa come on up and see it with me!

They shot parts of this film over my house at NAWS China Lake/Ridgecrest, CA (where all them goddamn earthquakes are) Him and the film jet (an unmarked Blue Angel) were buzzin around for the last few days of shooting. He was in the P-51 Mustang. We got a cool Air Show for a few weeks. You can see the camera ball on the nose of the jet. Gonna be cool to see my lil town in the film.

I'm sorry but that volleyball scene in the original is hot. Rumor was it was filed at my college in SD. Not sure if that's true or not.

Val was beautiful in Top Gun.

I remember thinking that sex scene was SO risque when I was young.
