    Default Hollywoodland vs. Black Dahlia

Is anyone planning on seeing one or both of these? If only one, which is it?

I'm going to check out Hollywoodland and I'll probably wait for Black Dahlia to come out on video.

I'm not gonna see either; I'll wait for Black Dahlia on HBO even though I know its a fictionalized account and those always piss me off for some reason and I ain't interested in the TV superman story really...

I'd like to see both! I'm a little tired of all the summer blockbusters, so I'd love to check out some good old famous hollywood scandals and crimes.

There's even a book on it that fingers film director Orson Welles --
yes, the Orson Welles -- as the murderer, saying he had a violent
past which the studios hid from the public.

The author has, apparently, a personal motive, in that she was
friends with the family of the victim. There is a brief background
    to her logic here.

I'll go see The Black Dahlia in the theater - probably wait for Hollywoodland to hit network tv.

I'm anxious to see The Black Dahlia, but worried I'm going to hate it. I've read a few Dahlia books and I think the movie is based on James Ellroy's book, which is, as Alice said, a fictionalized version. I don't like fictionalized accounts either, but I love Ellroy, so I read it. I don't like Josh Hartnett or Scarlett Johannson - and I think Hilary Swank is in it, maybe? I really don't like her - so I'm hoping they don't ruin it for me.

Well, in truth, my main motivation for seeing Hollywoodland is Adrien Brody. Otherwise, I'd probably wait for both on DVD. It should be interesting nevertheless.

I'm looking forward to the Black Dahlia. I've read non-fiction books about her and also James Ellroy's book. That period in LA was just so interesting and debauched.

I may see Black Dahlia. Did anyone see the show last week where the 2 grown children believe their father was the murderer. He was a doctor, Dr. Hodel. His daughter claims she was raped by her own father and was passed around among his friends even claiming she was nearly raped by John Houston.

Dr. George Hodel's son, Steve Hodel, wrote a book about his suspicions his father was the Dahlia killer called Black Dahlia Avenger. Interesting read.

I think that the woman who claims she was raped by her father is Janice Knowlton. She also wrote a book Daddy Was the Black Dahlia Killer outlining her reasons why she believes George Knowlton killed Elizabeth Short.

I read Janice Knowlton's book recently. It's sickening, but not very convincing and I think she was pretty disturbed. She committed suicide a few years ago.

Saw "Hollywoodland" this last week and it was actually pretty good even if the critics said unkind things. Someone has taught Ben Affleck how to act and it's an interesting story about the power structure in old Hollywood. But there's never a resolution of the mystery, only a playing out of the ways it could have happened.
