Default Favorite Horror Movies

In the spirit of Halloween, what's your favorite scary movie?

I personally love:
The Exorcist
It
Carrie
The Nightmare on Elm Street series (those just get funnier and funnier though...)

I have been, Carrie's on right now. That's sort of why I made this topic. They're playing a bunch of Exorcist stuff tonight, not the original though. Just a couple sequels and a documentary about it.

Every seen any of the Psycho sequels? There are like 4 of them and they're HORRIBLE.

The Exorcist is the scariest thing I've ever, EVER seen. It's so friggin' scary, even after having watched it several times. Just thinking about it gives me the shivers.

My favorite horror movies are:

Friday the 13th: The first movie in the series (why they did'nt stop here I'll never know) was the first horro movie I watched and I remember how scared I was by Mrs. Voorhies. That bitch looked like a manic housewife on a killing spree.

The Exorscist: Linda Blair pulls off a great pyschotic kid. The vomit and demon speak was beleiveable IMO and being a little kid at the time, I had nightmares for weeks about her floating over my bed.heh

And some other movies I watch on Halloween

Scary Movie 1 and 2.: These movies are the best parodies of scary movies ever. The Wayans bros were geniuses in these films, too bad they were'nt in Scary Movie 3 though. The 3rd one was lacking.

and Bride of Chucky: Sure this is a campy movie, but it was really cool. I liked how Jenifer Tilly provided the voice for "Tiffany" and how her and Chucky would just make fun of everyone.heh

Ha! It's funny, people are pretty divided about it, but I've seen it about a dozen times now and read about it and watched all the commentaries, so if you have any questions about it I can probably fill you in!

I never really liked the oldies all that much. I prefer 28 Days Later, Ginger Snaps, Shaun of the Dead and the like.

I've been having a marathon with my little sister: we've watched ANOES I-IV and the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre so far. Up next is Psycho, Halloween I and II and Friday the 13 I and II

The top three --

The Exorcist #1 -- still gutwrenching. When I saw the final
exorcism scene (uncut) on TV for the first time and ... you know who ...
appears in the room, I nearly lost it.

Alien -- the test of manhood for my generation. Can you stand the
scene with the alien ripping its way out of the dude's stomach?

(this is suspense rather than horror)

Les Diaboliques (1955) -- black and white.

Oh I just forgot to add a couple of other scary movies I like:

The Thing: The version with Kurt Russel in it was very susepnsful. The scene where the dog turns into an alien and gets crazy in the pen and the doctor getting his arms cut off by a guy with a mouth in his stomache were seom of the most gruesome scenes I ever scene in a movie. I also like the pyschological aspect of the film when it questioned who was an alien and who was'nt.

28 Days Later: Someone mentioned this movie upthread and I agree that this movie kicks ass. It's clever in a way that the people who are infected are still alive (they're not zombies) and how the world has shut down because of the virus. I still need to get the DVD for this movie so I can see the "other ending".

Resident Evil and Apocalsype: I know thses 2 movies were more action and that the first one did'nt reflect the game so much, but still I thought it was pretty entertaining. I like zombie movies and this one was statisfying, well that and Millia Jovoich.

THE SHINING, classic
EXORCISTS
IT,
TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (03)
HALLOWEEN SEQUELS.

To be honest this is all the crap that I watch, horror and gore. I cant stomach romantic or action movies

Yeah, The Omen 1. Friggin' scary kid. Wonder whatever became of him (the actor). Also, after that movie every villain or scary character in many movies was called Damien or a variation of that name!

I thought the Exorcist was stupid, not scary. The Shining scared me only when the two daughters came on screen. The rest was lame.
