Default Good news for Top Chef fans!

From Reality Blurred

Top Chef moves to LA, returns in October, and will be hosted by Padma Lakshmi

Top Chef will return for a second season in October, Bravo announced yesterday. In addition to getting a new host, the series is moving from San Francisco to LA. Production “will commence this month in Los Angeles on thirteen episodes,” Bravo said in a press release. The show’s return “is scheduled for October 2006.”

Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons will both return in their same roles. Replacing the thankfully fired Katie Lee Joel will be Padma Lakshmi, who is described by Bravo in a press release as “the first Indian supermodel, [an] actress and [an] award-winning writer.”

In other words, she is not famous just for being married to someone much older and more famous than she is. She also has “extensive” acting experience and has hosted shows on The Food Network and Discovery Channel, which means she probably has a personality.

Update: While I was just trying to ridicule Katie Lee Joel, I didn’t realize that Padma Lakshmi is married to someone older and more famous than she is: Salman Rushdie.

No more Katie-bot!!

I googled for Padma photos and she's not afraid to pose nude and her cookbook looks like it's full of sexy photos. She also made it as a model despite the fact she has a HUGE scar on her arm from a car accident!

From Wikipedia:

Padma Lakshmi is a New York-based Indian-American model, actress, talk show host and award-winning cookbook author. She was born in 1970 in Madras and is of Malayali descent. She is married to novelist Salman Rushdie. Her cookbook Easy Exotic was awarded Best First Book at the 1999 World Cookbook Awards at Versailles. She was host of the Food Network series, Padma's Passport which is part of the larger series, Melting Pot. She has also been a guest host on parts of the British culinary tourism show, Planet Food. She hosted the segments on India and Spain. Other notable television roles include a guest appearance as an imperious princess in what is often considered the absolute worst episode of Star Trek: Enterprise. It is rumoured that she also took part in a battle scene disguised as a reptilian. She was host of Domenica In, Italy's top-rated television show. She also starred in Glitter with Mariah Carey and in Boom with Amitabh Bachchan. In 2006 she starred in ABC's The Ten Commandments with Dougray Scott, Naveen Andrews, and Omar Sharif. She played Sean Bean's nemesis in the iTV film Sharpe's Challenge. She speaks 5 languages fluently: English, Hindi, Italian, Spanish, and Tamil. She is a graduate of Clark University in Massachusetts, where she majored in Theater Arts.

Wow! She is really beautiful. Hopefully she'll be more articulate and less bitchy than the last so-called hostess.

that scar looks GOOD! weird...

it's almost like tribal scarification symbol, but it adds to her beauty and makes her unique imo
