The Devil's Advocate
Okay, I just happened to stumble on this movie last week. I never considered Keanu Reeves to be an actor, but I was pleasantly surprised with his work in this one. Al Pacino is solid, as ever, of course a little bit over the top, but that's not bad in this particular part. However, his brown teeth looked like too big dentures to me and his eyes look so dead.
Did anybody see this movie on its release back in 1997 or seen it since? What's your opinion of it and the acting by the individual cast members?

Re: The Devil's Advocate
I saw it back in the day and really liked it. Though the first time I watched it it really upset me and made me feel kind of yucky. All that evil...
I've watched it maybe twice since and still really appreciate it.

Re: The Devil's Advocate
What is weird is that I have had two personal experiences that mimic the premise of that film.

Re: The Devil's Advocate
The movie also left me feeling pretty disturbed...I love horror movies but the ones that focus alot on evil or the devil, are a bit unsettling. I thought all the acting performances were really good though.

Re: The Devil's Advocate
ITA with all of you. I really liked the film. I especially liked the dialogue of the film at the end between Al Pacino(Milton) and Keanu(Kevin).
Kevin: "In the Bible you lose Dad. We're destined to lose".
Milton: "Consider the source son".

I really like this movie too. And I too liked Keanu in it, and I am not a fan of his. Thought it was a very interesting story and plot. Had me going....

Keanu needs to give up trying to do a convincing Southern accent though.

Re: The Devil's Advocate
I thought Charlize did very well. Very convincing. That movie did have an unsettling ending, didn't it? Just when you thought you had it wrapped up. Oh, and the come-here-and-screw-your-ripe-sister was somewhat disconcerting.

Re: The Devil's Advocate
Okay, this movie freaks me out. I watched it for the first time at my then-boyfriend-now-husband's house back in 1997. I remember it so clearly. I was eating a huge bowl of Lucky Charms and I was high as a kite. The scene in the dressing room was showing and when the lady's face changed into a demon, I choked on my cereal. Horrible!!! I have seen it a few times since, and those face-changing scenes just horrify me. I learned that day not to watch spooky movies under the influence.
Despite my personal experience with it, I think it had a really great plot...good movie.

I must say that the trick ending disappointed me, it was kind of an anti climax. I know they tried kind of for an "Omen" effect, you know, where you see the funeral and then the little boy turns around and he's still alive?
I think I'd personally prefer the first ending and just leave it at that.

Re: The Devil's Advocate
Totally dug this movie. Watched it ALOT. Charlize was awesome in it. Her face had those amazing chubby cheeks, which she no longer has. She was actually cute as a button, lol.
Love those movies where the main character finds out everyone around him works for Satan.
