At the tail end of the heap of movie news MTV recently unloaded, they have a short interview with Zach Braff in which he talks about his involvement with the long-in-development FLETCH WON. As far as the story is concerned, he mentioned that Harvey Weinstein (since the movie is now under The Weinstein Company) wants to do a "traditonal FLETCH" like the original movie starring Chevy Chase. He also mentioned that he didn't know why Kevin Smith left the project but that "Scrubs" and "Spin City" creator (and Braff's boss) Bill Lawrence may be writing the script. Finally, when asked about him playing Fletch, he mentioned "they're huge shoes to fill…if people see any similarities, he was a goofy guy who wasn't your stereotypical magazine poster boy, but he had the ability to be a great everyman. If I can set out to do anything in my career, it would be to play people that the people can relate to. Those are the parts I'm most interested in doing."
I personally wouldnt want to be involved in a movie that even Kevin Smith didnt want to be a part of. I love Zach Braff, and I loved the movie Fletch, but I think I'll skip this one.
