I'm a major wuss about scary films, but Aliens had me practically levitating. I think it tapped in to some monster dreams I had as a kid. And Terminator bothered me for ages - the machine that just wouldn't die. Worse than zombies. Sorry if I'm lowering the standards here, people.

The Ring scared the absolute piss out of me and I watched most of the other films on this list, some of them probably before you were born

I don't see your need to belittle what frightens other people. If it were one of the joke films I could understand, but the Ring is a film that terrified millions of people...and its premise is a frightening one.

And old fairy tales are scary as shit as well if you read the right ones. Don't be dissin' on the Grimm brothers

I was that scared to death by "Enemy of the State". A horror movie of another kind.....

I've seen all of these except for the Exorcist and I don't know if I'll ever watch that. That demonic stuff really gets into my mind and won't let go. I don't think it's healthy for me to watch it.

The Ring didn't scare me per se, but the herky-jerky movements of the scary girl scared the ever-living shit out of me. I don't know why, but the same thing happened when I watched The Grudge and Gothika and there were scary girls who were all herky-jerky.

And Freddy is my all-time worst nightmare movie character.

Alot of these strike me more as slasher or suspense films. And where is The Hitcher?

Same here .I watched Alien once when I was little and I will never watch is again. The thought of something bursting out of my chest, ick. Plus I grew up in a Christian household so anything with demons will freak me out big time.

I don't think this movie would be classified as horror by any means, but the only movie to ever make me scared shitless was Stephen King's Pet Semetary. I couldn't sleep for a week!

The scariest part of The Exorcist was when it suddenly flashes to these images as Regan is in the doctor's office:

    It is disturbing.

^ see now, I never found The Ex sequels (not to mention the godaweful prequel) to be even remotely frightening, just cheesy.

Mind you, this coming from someone who still checks behind her shower curtain to make sure there's no knife weilding, talking doll behind it.

Yeah, but that's in the edited version that was released in 2000 something.
Many critics, and I, agree that the original movie (without the extra stuff)
was scary enough on its own and that the new edits didn't add anything.

Those scenes scared me immensely, even after repeated viewings because I was anticipating the flashes. The scariest one was during Father Karras' dream sequence with his mother and the subway entrance.
