Meh. Both actors are too old, and they hired a young prop actress for Daisy - who is far more too interesting a character for any of the current crop of young actresses to handle. What about Jordan and Myrtle? Some little Hollywood casting coachers playing them, too?

Obviously this production is going to focus on the men, which is so far outside the perimeters of the book that I just have no interest.

It is one of my favorite books, so exquisitely written. I can understand the temptation to film it, but I prefer the movie that I make of it in my own mind.

Trailer creeps me out. It's almost like it's some sort of parody of the book. Not how I envisioned it at all.

I like Carey Mulligan, who'll be playing Daisy. I wouldn't consider her a prop actress at all.

I'm always disappointed by films of books, so I don't expect much here.

I think the book will definitely be better (as always with book turned movie adaptations). What I am looking forward to is the fashion bit, not the movie plot/cast itself haha.

With Baz in charge, I am looking forward to it. But have to admit.... I cannot stand the book. I think mainly because I had to study it for A level English. There's so much going on in that book that when you have to pick it apart, it loses the shine. Also, not sure that at 17/18, I really "got" it.

    .
    I think she's lovely.

Toby McGuire as Tom seems dead wrong to me.

This is one of my all time favorite books. I'll probably hate the movie but I won't be able to help myself -- I'll see it.

I am hopeful. We'll see if Carey Mulligan can pull off Daisy.

DiCaprio fucking sucks. His constipated facial expressions get on my nerves and he still has the voice of a 15 year old boy. Plus he has the sex appeal of a duck billed platypus.

Looks very visually stunning, cinematically speaking.

I was thinking the same thing when I read the headline. Fitzgerald was one of my favorite writers and I agree that the movies in our heads are far superior to what can be produced for the screen.

I remember watching the movie in social studies (I thinkg) in high school. I thought it was a great movie.
I just hope Hollywood will start doing original films. And I don't mean super hero, robotic, werewolf/vampire movies either. That stuff is out of control.
