Scarlett Johansson has nabbed the plum role of Janet Leigh in Fox Searchlight's "Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho", an upcoming biopic that sheds light on the difficulties Hitchcock suffered during the making of the classic horror film. Leigh was, of course, one of the stars of the film - an A-list movie actress who audiences were shocked to see being violently killed off before the halfway mark.
In addition to Johansson, James D'Arcy has also been added to the cast and will play the part of Anthony Perkins, the late actor who portrayed the psychotic hotel owner/mama's boy Norman Bates. D'Arcy bears a striking resemblance to Perkins, who died from complications of AIDS in 1992.
The news was broken by Variety.
The two young thesps join Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren - previously cast as Hitchcock and his wife Alma, respectively - and director Sacha Gervasi ("Anvil! The Story of Anvil"), who became attached to the project back in November. The script was written by "Black Swan" scribe John J. McLaughlin.
Johansson will next be seen in the hugely-anticipated superhero tentpole "The Avengers" as Black Widow. Darcy, who was last seen in Madonna's "W.E.", has a role in the upcoming Wachowski Bros. sci-fi film "Cloud Atlas" that also stars Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugh Grant, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess and Susan Sarandon

The only thing she has in common with Janet is a nice rack.

Scarlett Johansson is transformed into Janet Leigh in 'eerie' scenes from new movie Hitchcock

Clutching the steering wheel, her blonde hair shorn into a bouffant crop, Scarlett Johansson is transformed into Janet Leigh for the new movie Hitchcock.
Scarlett portrays Psycho's leading lady and her resemblance to the star as she looked in the black-and-white 1960 thriller has been described as 'eerie'.
A still released to promote the movie shows The Lost in Translation star, 27, with the same blonde hairstyle, slim skirt and blouse that Janet wore playing the part of the thieving secretary who gets stabbed to death in the shower at a remote motel.

Scarlett captures Janet perfectly, sitting in a vintage car with her hands on the wheel and wearing a pale green knit top.
Sacha Gervasi, the director of Hitchcock, said, 'When we took that still of Scarlett behind the wheel and put it up against the still of Janet behind the wheel in Psycho, it was eerie.
'The extent to which Scarlett was able to channel Janet [was] a real surprise. She brought it in such a way that no one really anticipated.'

At the wheel: Janet is pictured in the original scene from Psycho

Hitchcock revolves around the love story between the famous director and wife Alma Reville during the making of Psycho.
The film, which hits theatres on November 23, also stars Anthony Hopkins as the famous director and Helen Mirren as Alma.
Jessica Biel plays Vera Miles in the film and wears a short, curly wig for the role.
The director notes that the beautiful Total Recall star faced the same challenges that Vera did to get into character.

Back to the past: Helen Mirren and Anthony Hopkins play the married Alma Reville and Alfred Hitchcock in the bio-pic

'Hitchcock dressed her up in a wig and did everything they could to make the beautiful Vera Miles look frumpy,' Gervasi said.
'What Hitch tried to do to Vera we tried to do to Jessica, and the results were equally ridiculous. It is not possible to make Jessica Biel dowdy.'
Jessica was seen walking across the set during a break from filming last May, her '60s era costume and a pair of comfortable white slippers.

Ahh pfft .. actors don't need to be identical twins to do a successful portrayal.
