    Default Another goddamn remake

Apparently now they're doing a remake or a prequel or some shit of The Thing, which happens to be one of my favorite horror movies. It looks stupid with the same tired old horror tricks. This seems to be the year of remakes.

    Remakes of remakes.

Thing fun fact: James Arness is in the Thing costume in the original.

I freaking LOVED the John Carpenter remake of The Thing. AMAZING, repulsive, scary special effects. And the guy who was in charge of special effects (Rob Bottin) was only 23 at the time. His work was so graphic and realistic that people called the ASPCA/humane society to report him after they saw the scene where the dogs were being shot.

I just watched this movie again a couple of weeks ago, and still love it. As always, I can't watch the dog scene because of how real it looks.

This is one of my favorite scary movies! I remember when it first came out. All the other girls I was with couldn't stomach it, but I was in heaven. Don't really want "them" to ruin the memories I have of it tho.

Well, apparently this is supposed to be a prequel with the Norwegian scientists finding The Thing encased with ice, and there's a cage biting scene with huskies. But other than that, it's completely different from Carpenter's Thing, I'm sure.

The dialogue sounds intelligent: 'I'm going to take a tissue sample', 'Are you sure that's a good idea?' says one scientist to another.

    Doesn't look good.
