    Default The Borgias on Showtime

The Borgias (TV Series 2011) - IMDb

well I started watching this only because its a real historical family and based in Italy - however some things to point out.

Rodrigo was really age 61/62 when he became Pope, Jeremy Irons looks a little younger imo and his mistriss was only about 19 (a few years older than his daughter Lucretia) when he took her on and this woman on the show looks a little older in the face too. So far I like the "drama", but I'm guessing this show won't be completely based in known historical factual tidbits, thats ok I guess, its just tv.

plus he had more kids than are portrayed on the show so far.

Did any of you watch and do you like it so far? I was hoping for a more powerful actor to portray Lucretia, but maybe they'll age her next season and find someone better...

Oddly enough, he may look younger, but Jeremy Irons is 62, perfect age for the part...

I caught this on Friday night. It was playing on a History channel.

It was good but I fell asleep (really tired). Jeremy Irons is the man. I like everything he does.

What is up with the brother and sis? Do they get it on or what? Kinda came across that way.

I was a little disappointed. I thought a lot of it looked like "sets". Not sure yet.

oh yeah I figured, he just looks pretty good imo is all, I mean but real life figures are always ugly compared to their actor counterparts huh

This is why I couldn't watch The Tudors. I have read extensively about the Tudor dynasty and all I did was yell at the screen because they were blatantly changing well known fact for fiction. But it is TV, so things get changed to make it more interesting.

I love the history of the Borgia family, so I am a bit scared to watch this as I am afraid I'll be disappointed by the lack or historical facts or, as they call it, the "reinterpretation" of historical facts.
I have seen the trailer, though. Jeremy Irons is way hotter than how I imagine Alexander the VI, but that's OK. I am really bothered by the baby face of the actor that plays Cesare in the show. He looks too clena, young and innocent, I think. His trousers are really tight, btw...

well I'm already hooked after the 2nd episode and the hotties and and intrigue, I mean, I still wonder how accurate all this crazy bullshit drama is (and of course we can never know dialogue and conversations between these people) but its been entertaining so far

loved the dead stuffed bodies of the King of Naples enemies sitting at a dining room table together for all eternity

    is that shit true?

That part is true. He really did keep a museum of his enemies.

I don't have it either ... we got rid of it a few years ago to save on cable costs (our bill was RIDICULOUS!!). Now we only have HBO and Starz ... but I want to see this series. I really don't know much about the Borgias so the fact/fiction thing wouldn't bother me so much. I saw a Borgias book at BJs the other day and almost bought it, but it didn't say whether it a novel or non-fiction and I didn't have time to google on my phone to find out!
