Angry Wizard of Oz to be remade YET AGAIN

Warner Bros. has plans to move forward with a remake of the classic The Wizard of Oz, reports Deadline.

Planning to shoot from the script to the 1939 version (which, though it is by far the best known, wasn't the first filmic iteration of the L. Frank Baum story), WB is said to be in talks with Robert Zemeckis to helm the property.

Zemeckis, meanwhile, is currently working on a performance-capture remake of The Beatles animated film, Yellow Submarine, and was announced to make a return to live action with a time travel story, Timeless (though that has been called into some question with the news that Phillip Noyce is now attached to potentially the same project.)

Warner Bros.' version of The Wizard of Oz would go up against Disney's planned Oz-prequel, Oz, the Great and Powerful, in development now with Sam Raimi attached to direct.

Summertime Entertainment, meanwhile, has planned an animated sequel to the original Oz tale entitled Dorothy of Oz, planned for release next year.

I was waiting for TikTok and Ozma (my fav) to be made into movies, but they got lost somewhere. There's no need to remake The Wizard.

just have the original make the rounds in the theaters. thats good enough for me. Remake? fail.

besides, Beyonce will probably try to star in it.

The movie was already perfect, leave it. Doing a remake would be like fixing something until it's broke.

I wish they'd do a feature of Wicked.

Why don't just remake films that actually sucked?

    The Wiz was pretty cool.

    Wonder who they will pick.

Who wants to bet one of the characters will have a 'hip hop' flavor to it and maybe a rapper will play the Tin Man (The Game)

Lil Wayne would make a kickass Scarecrow, and Timba for the Cowardly Lion.

    Miley Cyrus for Dorothy.
    Noel Cyrus as Toto.
    Beyonce as Glinda.
Ali Lohan as Wicked Witch of the West
    Munchkins led by Suri Cruise.

Alicia Silverstone: "I think that the film Clueless was very deep. I think it was deep in the way that it was very light. I think lightness has to come from a very deep place if it's true lightness."

I'm making dinner and the girls are watching the original right now...for the 100th time. And now wishing they had been characters from the movie for Halloween instead of what they were.
We were supposed to all dress up as a family (lame I know) but 3 yr old was going to be Glinda (she has pretty blonde hair), 6 yr old as Dorothy (she has the hair for that too), husband as Scarecrow and me.....well, I'll give you one guess.
And Grandparents as Tin Man and Lion. Our enormous cat was supposed to be Toto.

Anyway, why do they insist on fucking w/a classic? I can tell you my kids will want no part of a new one. At least for awhile. Me either.

It will NEVER compare with the original. Why do they do this. Are there no original Ideas in Hollywood these days?

I will be sorely upset if this one's not filmed in 3D also.
