No More "Sex and the City" Movies

Chris Noth, who played Mr Big in the "Sex and the City" TV series and the two movies, told NY Magazine that there will be no more film installments in the franchise.

"It's over. The franchise is dead," he said. "The press killed it. It's like all the critics got together and said, 'This franchise must die.' They all had the exact same review. It's like they didn't see the movie."

Looking at the numbers, it is more than bad reviews that killed the franchise. While the first film grossed $152 million domestically on a $65 million budget, the sequel took in only $95 million on a $100 million budget. And as far as those bad reviews... "Sex and the City 2" has a ridiculously low 15% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.

From everything I've heard about the second movie, it sounds like it killed itself with a bad storyline. Don't blame the press for that.

I only saw the first movie - it wasn't bad. It just didn't feel like it belonged on the big screen though. It's strictly TV fare.

    Two movies too late.

It's about time!! I didn't even bother watching any of the movies. I barely could stand the 2 or 3 tv shows I watched. Hated this show!!

I actually liked the show. A lot. But the movies - maybe they tried a little too hard? Especially SATC2. Too self-conscious and too presumptious of its audience.

I liked the show, but didn't like the first movie at all. It all felt forced and not funny.

I liked the first few seasons of the show, but then Carrie just got on my nerves with her stupid walk and how she's beyond self centered.

Seriously. It was like she didn't WANT to be happy. But it kept the show interesting I guess. For a while.

But that scene of SJP lying in the hotel bed in Mexico sans makeup? Oy, three minutes of my life I'll never get back.

I've never understood wanting to pay big screen prices to see an extended episode of a tv show anyway. Noth sounds foolish here. The movie sucked- no conspiracy necessary.

I liked most of the episodes so I gave SATC1 a go. I was suffering till the slow-mo church scene but then and there I just lost it and never attempted to watch it again. I stull shudder when I think about it. So when SATC2 started to be promoted I knew I wasn't gonna contribute to its box office.

Even as a huge SATC fan, I didn't see the latest movie. For some reason I just didn't want to see it go out like that. I heard terrible things, and for some reason going to see the movie seemed to me too much like going to a beloved relatives house after they die and seeing only the things that aren't there anymore.
