Wonder Woman
With the lackluster performance of joss Whedon's much hyped and highly anticapted sci fi "Serenity", do you think that he has perhaps lost some creative control over his major project, the '07 Wonder Woman?
Joss has expressed his desire for an unknown in the3 lead role. A fresh face, without a film history. Probably so that when people watch the film, they'll see Wonder Woman, and not the half dozen other roles that the actress is identified with.
However is the studios are losing their faith in Whedon's ablity to 'deliver the goods', they may hedge their bets by putting an established brand name in the lead. Zeta Jones is almoost certainly angling for it. Probably because everyone's saying that she's to old. No actress can afford to have anyon saying that about her. plus Zorro, an action part, is almost certainly a perlude to WW. If Zorro deoa well, then they can't really deny her the part.
So who do you think will get the role: an unknown, or an established star? If a star, then who?

I don't really think Serenity did that bad... so who knows if they'll take his control away. Wonder Woman is already well known, and isn't relying on fanboys to make money... Serenity is based off a cancelled tv show that a lot of people never watched... it's amazing that it made as much as it did. I'm a huge Whedon fan, and even I couldn't really get into Firefly.
I'm hoping he gets his way, because he deserves it, but I'd still like to see Catherine in the role. She looks as old as Lynda Carter did, so who cares what age she is.

I liked Serenity a lot (never saw the show) and that was even after reading the horrible reviews it received - had the reviewers not been so obsessed over the TV show that it had been based on more people would have not considered it as something to think about.
I loved Summer Glau as River as well.

I want to see Serenity... but I'm going to have to wait until it comes out on dvd.
That's another thing... they're going to clean up with dvd sales of Serenity. The Firefly dvds did very well, as I recall.

Every store in my area was sold out of Firefly the week Serenity came out, it was insane.

CZJ is beautiful but IMO can't pull off the athleticism required of today's Wonder Woman.

You think?
I think she could be trained - she has a great frame to work with and she'll build muscle easily. She was in a Sean Connery movie a while back where she looked pretty fit in blue leggings.
I mean if you can make AJ into Lara Croft and Theron into Aeon Flux there should be hope for her too.
I used to like her a lot but now I'm not sure now not as much.

^CZJ was stunning in the original Zorro and that movie with Sean Connery, but then she married her sugar daddy and unnaturally matronly-looking. I say "unnaturally" b/c the transformation IMO was so quick from beautiful ingenue to middle-aged matron. And she looked matronly when she's not even old.

I'll add my two cents...why even remake Wonder Woman? I think Linda Carter was perfect. Who cares now about a series from the '70's/early 80's?

That was a body double for Entrapment (1998); CZJ has a great
big J-Lo-esque ass on her and big chunky thighs like a Reubens model.
A lot of her wallpapers are photographed to try and hide her big ass.
She's got a big ass. You know it. If you like that, that's great.
But she's got saddlebags out to HERE!

I really think that Zeta's going to use her star power to land the part. Especially if Zorro succeeds. Serenity did well, but not that well. So the studios may go with a known brand name.
Zeta and Bullock are the 2 most frequently mentioned actresses, but "Congeniality 2" bombed, so Bullock's shares are down. She has the stink of failure, so that gives Zeta Jones the edge. Is Zorro succeeds, you won't keep her out of the role.
