i can't believer christoph waltz didn't get nominated in the lead actor category. that seriously sucks.

i'm also pissed off that 'a serious man' has so far been ignored, and continues to be by the academy awards. not a single acting nomination, even though the whole cast is phenomenal. i guess it's because they're not very well known. at least it's nominated for 'best picture' (even though it doesn't stand a chance) and 'best screenplay' (which it totally deserves).

i hope 'the white ribbon' gets cinematography, but it will probably go to avatar (). i really hope 'ribbon' wins best foreign film.

as usual, the oscars have no clue when it comes to music nominations. i mean, really, the music from 'avatar'?? it fucking sucked!

i'm fine with crapatar winning all the technical awards (except cinematography) but it had better not take best director or best picture. though it probably will. who am i kidding? the oscars are a joke so that's probably what's going to happen.

    10 Best Picture nominees?

Thankfully, Mariah didn't get nominated for Precious. That has to sting that Mo'Nique and Gabourey got nods and she didn't.

i haven't seen 'the hurt locker' but so far my fave of the best picture nominees is 'a serious man'. it doesn't stand a chance though. to be honest i'm kind of surprised it even got nominated, it's one of the coen brothers' more 'quiet' films, and it's gone totally unnoticed. which is a shame because it's fantastic.
i also loved 'inglourious basterds' and i wouldn't mind if it won at all.
but like i said, it will probably go to crapatar.

IMO, the only exciting thing about these nominations is that Up got a nod in the best pic category. Go Up!

Up in the Air is getting waaaaaay too much awards love. I don't get it.

I loved the Hurt Locker. Very tense movie. I'm happy it got a lot of noms. I hope she wins the best director. She deserves more than JC.

I wanna see Tarantino win something but I'm betting Christoph Waltz will be the best shot and he totally deserves it. The Best Actress category seems very weak this year.

She totally does NOT deserve it for that POS movie, and I ain't saying that just because I don't like her. I hope Gabby manages to snag it from under her.

But, once again, the Oscars have failed with the noms. Its almost as bad as the grammy, maybe award shows have outlived their usefulness.

Probably Sandra Bullock, but Gabourey could pull an upset and win for Precious. Doubtful, but it may happen.

There are like 10 nominees for Best Picture? What's up with that!!?

I'm ok with Avatar winning the technical awards but nothing else. My fave of the films I've seen was definitely The Hurt Locker. Really hope the brilliant script, acting and direction in this movie will beat that moronic Dancing with Blues shit. But even if it doesn't, this is the Oscars. They did give best picture to Crash over Brokeback Mountain and to Driving Miss Daisy (?!!!) over all the nominees that year and don't let me get started on Titanic.

It was a nice surprise to see all those acting nods to the cast of Up in the Air. I agree that they gave excellent performances but nominating all 3 might be a bit excessive.

Putting Christoph Walz in Supporting is bullshit but at least he pretty much has it in the bag like that

Its possible the Hurt Locker Director will win, she did beat James Cameron at the Directors Guild Awards.

^ I was just reading about how James Cameron and Kathryn Bigelow (Hurt Locker) were married before... That's kinda cool!
