Lifetime reveals 'Project Runway' all-stars, special to air August 20

By Reality TV World staff, 07/22/2009

Lifetime has revealed the identities of the former Project Runway designers who will return to the reality competition to compete in an all-stars special.

Dubbed Project Runway: All-Star Challenge, the two-hour special will air on Thursday, August 20 at 8PM ET/PT and lead into the 10PM ET/PT premiere of Project Runway's sixth season, the long-delayed Runway edition that will be the first to air on Lifetime.

Although they'll only be competing in a standalone special, the eight returning designers participating in Project Runway: All-Star Challenge will be competing for a cash prize just as big as the show's sixth-season cast: $100,000.

The designers -- Season 2's Daniel Vosovic and Santino Rice; Season 3's Jeffrey Sebelia, Uli Herzner and Mychael Knight; Season 4's Chris March and Sweet P; and Season 5's Korto Momolu -- will be judged by Project Runway's regular judging panel of Heidi Klum, Michael Kors and Nina Garcia, with Tim Gunn also mentoring them.

Klum had confirmed recent rumors that Lifetime was filming an all-stars special designed to help promote the show's move from Bravo during an appearance on Live with Regis and Kelly last Friday.

"We actually did an all-star episode which was so much fun," Klum told Live co-hosts Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa. "We brought a lot of fan favorites back and it was hard for them, because they've kind of proven themselves already and now they're back on and no one likes to have the big old 'L' on their forehead."

Project Runway's sixth season was filmed last year at Los Angeles' Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and will feature 16 contestants. Although the cast was only announced earlier this month, the season's finale was taped at New York Fashion Week in February.

The sixth-season winner will receive an editorial feature in an upcoming issue of Marie Claire magazine, a cash prize of $100,000 to start a fashion line, and a trip to Paris.

Bravo's NBC Universal parent company, Lifetime Networks and Project Runway's The Weinstein Company production company resolved their legal dispute surrounding the rights to Project Runway in April -- a year after Lifetime and The Weinstein Company first announced their five-year, 10-season deal to bring Project Runway to the female-focused network from Bravo beginning with the show's sixth season.

Klum, Gunn, Kors, and Garcia will all reprise their roles for the show's sixth season, which will also include special guest judges from the worlds of fashion, music, film and television.

Well, if they didn't already feel like losers, I'm sure they do now. Thanks, Heidi!

But whatever - no one twisted their arm to do it, I doubt any of them were under contract, and I'm sure they were handsomely compensated.

^^^ Santino was bonkers but he was also funny as hell. I'd like to see Sweet P. win, just because I liked her. Thank god they didn't bring back that crazy bitch Keeley or whatever her name was.

Why is no one representing from Season 1? I loved Santino and thought he should have won that season hands down.
