i love rhythmic gymnastics too, and synchronised swimming is pretty fun too.
i don't really think anything should be removed. it's true not all sports are popular everywhere and some are pretty obscure but i'm sure they all have their niche and they should be allowed to participate as well.

Mixed Martial Arts - would be a more exciting replacement for taekwondo.

(I know it wasn't on the list, but it will be one day - they'll prob, have to wear headgear like the boxers and taekwondo)

The main one I want gone is the Equestrian. Purely becasue it is the horse doing all the work. They may as well have drag racing as Equestrian.

Tennis is my favourite sport, I have played it for 30 years. I would like it gone, for the same reasons as previous posters in that there are enough professional competitions and the Grand Slams are the Holy Grail of tennis.

Also lose ping pong. It is a recreation thing you play with some alcohol on the side. If it stays then put in darts and snooker. They are just as valid.

Table Tennis is HUGE in Asia and certainly isn't considered a "pub" sport. Played at elite level it requires a lot of skill and precision so I'd keep it.

If we banned all sports that are boring to watch then we'd lose 90% of the current list!

No, I think table tennis should be removed from the Olympics, along with handball and badmitton. People dismissed baseball as being popular only in America and the same applies for those events. They are more recreational activities than sports, imo.

^^Funny enough I love watching table tennis. I went to watch it at Sydney, along with water polo and badminton.

Yes ping pong has a huge skill level, but I don't think it belongs in the Olympics.

Also, they can lose the archery and shooting.

baseball is popular in cuba and japan as well as other countries on the american continent, not just the USA. but if anything, baseball is less popular than ping pong, which is huge in all of asia. that's a lot of countries and a huuuuuuge chunk of the world right there.
if you only had sports that are popular all over the world, all you'd have left is soccer and tennis.

Um...did you happen to see some of the Field (shot put, javelin, etc.) athletes.

On second thought, and for some reason, I'd love to see sumo wrestling.

Japan would probably be a good bet for all 3 medals then?
