No one throw anything at me, but I don't quite get why they had Muhammad Ali light the torch. It seems as though they would've had an English sports legend do the honors?

Boring like hell. I only wanted to see the athletes come out, not a Broadway musical, or a rap concert. I dozed off a lot. My fiance was pissed off too. He started to play games on his laptop.

Gold lamé on a uniform was inspired.

Speaking of a McCartney, Sir Paul is now singing Hey Jude. Why would he choose this song, I wonder? How much longer does this ceremony go on?

I personally think that y'all should have worn the Liberian outfits. Now that was stylish.

I wonder is going through the mind of all those athletes from countries who have never gotten to see anything remotely like this display.

I thought it was great! Whoever thought of Her Majesty as a Bond girl? The director says he only had 2 hours and even her dogs were perfection!

This ceremony sucks ass so far. That whole musical schtick with the girl losing her cell phone was such a waste of time. This isn't some music awards show.

Very clever sfx with HMQ and Bond but I think it really was her saying "good evening, Mr Bond". The sick kiddies Mary Poppins shit was just that although Great Ormond St Hospital is a magnificent institution so if it benefits from the PR I'm very happy. Mr Bean. Purleeze. I dread to think what it all cost and how much more was spent in "sweeteners" for the Olympic Committee and their parasites. They make corrupt third world regimes (and a few first world ones too)look like amateurs. Bah humbug.

I think the swimming is on first? Let the whining begin!

That's all we'll hear for the next week, swimming. I love it and will stay up and watch races but it's as if the Olympics end after the first week in the Oz media, for all the attention the other sports get compared to swimming. And maybe cycling.

Don't forget Aussie Golden Girl hurdler Sally Pearson who everyone says will win gold, er, but probably won't. I REALLY hope that arrogant Steffenson prick drops the baton.

Best parts of the entire ceremony: the Queen with James Bond and Mr. Bean. The rest was meh and this morning on BBCI it has already been mentioned that many (even Brits) thought it was too British.

I didn't like the phone girl/boy bit but for the most part I loved it. The flame at the end was incredible. I am biased but I don't care. I'm proud to be British right now (and as I am stereotypically British, that happens very rarely).

James Bond and the Queen plus the flame accompanied by Pink Floyd's "Eclipse" were my favourite moments.
