The ballet was GORGEOUS. Zakharova is Goddess and the modern piece was exquisite, love that piece of music. I hope NBC doesn't cut that bit out.

I quit watching, it was so boring. After the parade of nations, I switched to the Modern Family marathon, and now I'm watching a Sonja Henie bio on YouTube.

This was way too long and boring. I felt this way the last few Olympics. It should be limited to the athletes walking in and one hour of show.

Aww really? The ceremonies are my favourite part. I thought these in particular were beautiful, I watched them twice.

I enjoyed most of it, but it got draggy in places. The ballet was beautiful. Anna Netrebko's voice is magnificent, but you all know I've got keep it superficial, and her dress sucked. I can't find a good picture of it, but it was a light blue foofy, poofy prom dress from sometime in the 1980s.

We all thought it was boring too. It's fun to watch the teams come out and marvel over how one country can have 190 million people but only one athlete in the games. Ha. The ballet was beautiful for the first 10 minutes. After that, they lost me.

Biathlon. You're putting everything in physically while skiing - breathing hard, etc. then you have to completely shift gears. Focus, slow heartbeat, calm breathing, aim and then switch back. It's awesome!

I thought biathalon was lame at first too, but then someone explained how difficult it is to slow down and control your heartbeat when shooting and all of that. It seems pretty cool.

I love how bright they made it for night time sports. Really nice.

After years of preparation, the Sochi Winter Olympics are finally here.
The run up to the games was not as smooth as Russian President Vladimir Putin might have liked, with the #SochiProblems hashtag overtaking Twitter, the uproar around the nation's LGBT policies, and the culling of the stray dogs, to name a few.

But some of that may fall by the wayside now that the opening ceremonies are over — It's time for the athletes to take the stage.
So you won't miss all the sporting the Olympics has to offer, here's the full schedule for the first week, from alpine skiing to skeleton. All times listed are in Eastern Standard Time.
