This Musselman's Family Skating Hour is bad. Thank God Kurt Browning is here.

Can we interest you in Leann Rimes? She has a nice little cadre of fans you'd probably enjoy.~ Pecan Pie

Just saw Kurt Browning skate with his little son. It was very cute.

Was that guy Nancy's husband or son? He looked pretty young.

That was her oldest son. Her husband is like, in his 50s...

All the product hawking from the skaters is pretty obnoxious. They were talking about how their jewelry was special, then boom, a jewelry commercial with the very bracelets they had on. Then how precious it was to see smiles on their family members, then a Colgate commercial. This show has been pretty lame.

The choreo and music both are pretty lame. This is why I prefer competitions to skating shows. The kids are all cute though.

Me too. The minute I see a light show on the ice, I know it's not something I want to watch. But it has been fun seeing some of my old favorite skaters.

The only one who really seemed to have some spark left was Ilia Kulik. He has the best forward crossovers ever.

Really? I loved the crowd (and the fact that skating might finally be moving into new spheres after too long bogged down in the same countries) but none of the events were particularly good IMO.

    Here's my take:

Men: Hanyu wins, with Javier and Voronov filling out the podium. Hanyu fell in his LP, but still finished light years ahead of everyone else, so his domination until he retires is pretty secure. Fernandez bombed his SP but came back nicely (although his LP score was questionably high but he was competing at home so meh) to win silver. Voronov rightly beat Kovtun for bronze, and Machida had an absolute meltdown in his free.

Women: Tuktamysheva 1st, Radionova 2nd, Wagner (!) 3rd. The ladies SP was an utter mess, with everyone making mistakes; the free was a big improvement. Tuktamysheva and Radionova will be probably gold and silver at Worlds, and Pogorilaya and Lipnitskaya will fight out at Russian nationals to see who gets the third spot. Credit to Wagner, 9 times out of 10 she's a very steely competitor who brings it when it matters.

Dance: Shibutanis were robbed of a medal, Weaver and Poje will be World champions.

The US won't get to see it on TV until next week. It will be on YouTube by then.
