There was another Chinese gymnast that I completely believe is probably only 13, at the oldest. I can't remember her name, Lingling or something like that. The announcers were saying she had little to no international experience. Of course not, the Chinese gov't didn't want anyone to see her before the Olympics because then it would be easier to determine her age.
I was reading an article inthe NY times about it yesterday, The New York Times > Log In. I thought it was interesting that in the article they say the dates the passports were issued but also say that the gymnasts have competed in international competitions before. Why would their passports be issued 6 months ago if they'd already been competing internationally?
It's just a shame that they feel the need to cheat and lie in order to win medals. I realize that there will always be scandals in sports and in the Olympics. I just wish everyone were honest.
