Fireworks are banned in the UK except for special occasions and only then with fully qualified pyrotechs in charge. 'elf and safety innit mate.

I'm afraid it's going to be a cringeworthy Ye Olde England pastiche with a few ancient rockers like Keef Richards, Cliff Richard and I bet Paul McCartney makes an appearance too. Oh and Sarah fucking Brightman.

Same here. He was my athlete of this Olympics. I think London could put on a great Olympics if they put the effort into it. But who knows. I certainly think it'll have a better, more fun atmosphere than the Beijing ones. London will have a massive fireworks display I think. Like they do at New Year. Fireworks aren't banned in the UK!

I'm looking forward to the London Olympics. I'm sure it will be a quieter but more fun time and I just adore London.

Seriously considering volunteering but I'll be 36 years old then. Eeep.

It definitely doesn't try too hard, but it's a decent city despite the lack of effort. Just imagine what it could be with a strong dose of civic pride.

^Yeah it felt too serious. I don't think London will bring on Cliff or anyone like that lol. The aim for the London Olympics was to have a more youthful feel to it, so I don't think they fit in with that.
