Default Packers trade Brett Favre to N.Y. Jets

It's official: Packers to send Favre to New York Jets

(CNN) -- The Green Bay Packers reached a deal Wednesday night to send quarterback Brett Favre to the New York Jets.
"I am looking forward to seeing Brett Favre in a New York Jets uniform," said Woody Johnson, the Jets chairman and CEO. "He represents a significant addition to this franchise, and reflects our commitment to putting the best possible product on the field."
The trade ends a 16-season stay in Green Bay for Favre, who holds numerous NFL passing records.
Favre led the Packers to a victory in Super Bowl XXXI in 1997 and has been named the NFL's MVP three times. He holds league records for touchdown passes, yards passing, passing attempts, completions and victories by a starting quarterback.
"Brett has had a long and storied career in Green Bay, and the Packers owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude for everything he accomplished on the field and for the impact he made in the state," Packers' management said in a statement. "It is with some sadness that we make this announcement ..."
The trade follows a change of heart by Favre, who announced his retirement in March. Over the summer he decided he might want to continue to play, after all. Green Bay opted to continue with another quarterback and negotiated the deal to send Favre to New York.
Details of the agreement were not immediately available.
Living near N.Y. I like the idea of having Favre here. He is an icon. But he's going to be the big loser in this deal. He went from the Packers to the Jets of all teams. The Jets???

Fact is, he wanted to force Green Bay to trade him to the Vikings, they said no, and now he's stuck with the Jets. The Jets. LOL

    You guys hear that??

I think thats the sound of die hard Packer fans hurling themselves out of tall buildings.

I love this! My second fav team is the Jets and if Favre can play like he did last year, and have any kind of team behind him, it'll be a beautiful thing to watch!
And I agree Kingcap--dudes an icon and will bring some excitement to the NYC sports arena!!

New paps target too. Good for us!

    ^Yea!

There is something extremely likeable about Brett Favre....he will hopefully be respected during his final playing days.

And lets not forget how awesome he was in 'There's Something About Mary' too...
He delievered those 2 lines with serious authority.

Maybe he can help turn that franchise around. I'm sure they'll have no problem with attendance this year.

this could be a good thing. if the Packers keep Pennington, it could make him better (since he all but sucked last year). i wish he would have just quit while he was ahead. i hope he is done with the concussions.

There are a few things people have to look for with Favre coming to New York:

    1) He's coming from a smaller market in Green Bay to the biggest sports market in the world in N.Y. Not a lot of athletes can handle that extreme pressure.

    2) Since he is Brett Favre, if he doesn't play well right from the start he's going to get ripped by the N.Y. fans and media.

    3) The Jets are a sorry team. They've got a good QB in Favre, but he can only do so much if the rest of the team stinks. I don't think that's going to sit too well with him.

Eli looks like an idiot savant, minus the savant part. It must be the Manning genes because I don't think much of his brother Peyton either. They all look a little inbred.

Nah, let the Jets keep Brett. The Giants are just fine with Eli. The Giants don't need an aging QB who can't make up his mind whether he wants to play or retire.
