So Rafa has crashed out in traditional style.

I see that the players are actually following the "white only" clothing rule this year. Quite right too.

I LOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVED that match. Dustin Brown is such an exciting player, quite an athlete although he doesn't look it at his skinny 6'5" frame. He played alternately brilliant, supreme, tennis and beginners mistakes. Great, great match.

Man! I missed it! A*O, are the women as well? They tend to bring some Aggassi flair.

As far as I can see all the players are obeying the all white dress code. It was never formally abandoned but it was being more or less ignored in recent years. It may be a bit anachronistic in these days of sponsorships and brand endorsements but I quite like not being dazzled by flouro shirts and shoes plastered in big logos. Now if only they could stop the women screeching like banshees on every...fucking...shot.

i honestly didn't think Rafa would win. Dustin has a killer serve. This just isn't Rafa's year.

Based on absolutely no evidence but plenty of snark I've always suspected our Rafa has a drug problem.

What the eff ever! He's my man and I love him no matter what. I have no idea why the media is making out like it's a shock FOR THE FOURTH YEAR IN A ROW, he hasn't made the quarters since 2011 (when he lost in the final to Djokovic). Like msdeb said, if any year he was going to bomb out it was most certainly this one, with his appendicitis and injury issues. Beyond just loving the man it annoys me because I love watching him play. I miss when he used to play with unsurpassed fire, ran down every shot and truly believed he could make it. He looks resigned before he has even begun these days, which is the complete opposite to how he used to be 5 years ago.

Dustin should be fun to watch for the rest of the tournament though, I hope he goes far. His hair is awesome.

eta: A*O, I believe Eugenie Bouchard fell foul of the dress code as she wore a black bra underneath her whites and you could see it. That's a no-no.

This guy, Milos Raonic from Canada is the absolute double of my nephew, also Canadian as it happens. No black bra as far as I know.

I'm watching him right now (on TV, sniffle)! I remember being super close to him in 2012 as he was practicing with David Ferrer in a court where us common folk could loiter. He's a manbeast, 6'5 I believe but looks taller to me. Weirdly attractive.

He was beaten in a fantastic way by another adventurous player, Nick Kyrgios from Australia. Another great match to watch.

I'm all for characters (like Monfils, Brown, Djokovic to a lesser extent these days), but I find Kyrgios a little upstart. He acts like an uncouth, immature brat and it's not endearing. Throwing his racquet down so hard it bounced up into the crowd today was just obnoxious. Doesn't take away from his great tennis, but it does take away from my enjoyment when watching him. So yes, I don't like him. Maybe in a few years when he's matured and got his ego in check.

Okay, I see. I must say his style of play as well as Dustin Brown's make tennis attractive for me again for the first time since my all time favorite player John McEnroe's heydays.

I'm just in a world of pain because I LOVED watching Rafa is in prime. I enjoyed it so much. I miss those days, though I admittedly own the 2008 final on DVD and enjoy setting aside a good 4 or 5 hour chunk to relive the golden times
