Opening ceremonies tomorrow! Which events are you all most excited about?

My Blackhawks have ten players in the games so I cannot wait for hockey!

    Mod note: Just sport.

And pageantry, accommodations, coverage, fun facts about Sochi, athlete bios., whatever, etc. Spoiler to spoiler thread please for people watching on a delay!

    have at it.

Figure skating for me, too. And for anyone else into it, the brand spanking new figure skating team event is on tonight. They're doing it before the opening ceremonies for whatever reason.

Also, wanted to ask - in previous years we've had a general Olympics thread for general discussion, but we've also had a *SPOILER* thread for chat about events as they happen or as they air. Since not all markets see things at the same time, we ran into some people reading results before it had aired in their area and being upset. Do we want to do that this time to try and help out the folks who may see things later?

I'm worried about this, and also that the facilities themselves are so poorly constructed something is going to go wrong. I was asking in another thread if people were watching that #Sochiproblems hashtag on Twitter...if I was an athlete, seeing all these horror stories at the hotels, I'd be slightly worried about the construction of the ski ramp I'm competing on.

This is Russia. It will be chaotic but hopefully safe even if the toilets aren't plumbed in yet.

ITA and have thought about a large fire since there seems to be water issues. I don't have twitter but have been watching the tweets and seeing some of the reporting about unfinished construction and motel rooms. Even saw a pic of a building leaning as a tunnel underneath it collapsed. Doesn't seem like it would take much for some crisis to arise.

I love everything about the Winter Olympics.

i'm watching NBC's super delayed coverage and Bob Costas is talking about Pussy Riot. I laughed right out loud hearing him say Pussy Riot

I will for sure watch the luge/skeleton/bobsled competitions. I'll probably watch figure skating, and speed skating as well. The only "snow" sport I like to watch is ski jumping. The rest are just meh to me.

I watched the slope style event last night. It was not as exciting as I was hoping. Maybe it will get better. I am excited to see Shaun White hopefully win gold again.

I actually love all of the sports - the Winter Olympics are my absolute favorite. I'm not big on either the opening or closing ceremonies for some reason though; I have a picture in my mind this year of everyone walking out into the stadium having to carry a huge picture of Putin. There are rumors his girlfriend is going to light the Olympic torch. I think these games are all about him trying to look good to the rest of the world, and have absolutely zero to do with sportsmanship, friendship, competition or his fellow countrymen.

Listening to the radio this morning and they were talking about how bad conditions for the athletes are over there. Some exchange and barder is going on. "I have three light bulbs and will exchange for a door knob." And people have to stand in line for the toilet and then you have an audience as you go! That's terrible. I would have to pull out some card with numbers and flash them at the people when they came out of the loo. A 10!!!! Or maybe a 9.0

You can follow Sochi Problems on Twitter. Some of it is hilarious, some is unbelievable.

It actually has more followers than the Sochi Olympics twitter page....

I'm not sure about how terrible conditions really are, I've got a few people on my facebook saying it's been incredible so far and that the media reports are greatly exaggerated. But it's probably all relative, and I'm sure there's crappy stuff too.

So far the opening ceremonies seems like a repeat.
