Savchenko/Szolkowy were beasts to go for that throw triple axel at the end. I wanted V/T to win, but I didn't want S/S to go out like that. Still, S/S fought until the very end and they can be proud of that.

And I guess V/T are a romantic couple, though their answer wasn't crystal clear. Trankov is pretty damn hot.

Plushenko just withdrew from competition. Looks like he may have injured himself in the warmup. Oy.

Abbott got seriously gifted. What a self-centered little twat he is - I cannot stand him.

I'll disagree here, I thought he displayed major guts in that performance and was scored fairly adequately.

Jason Brown just kicked ass! He's so adorable, and I mean that in a not-creepy-even-though-I'm-old-enough-to-be-his-mom way.

Scott Hamilton had just said early this morning he was having a really bad time at practice. He was so fabulous earlier.

I for one am shocked, SHOCKED, that Plushenko withdrew, I'd never ever have predicted it. Never. That was in no way possible to see from a mile away.

I can't stand Jeremy's histrionics, but continuing after that fall and not fucking everying else up deserves major kudos. Hanyu was on fire and it looks like the tide is turning for Patrick... I'm happy my boy Daisuke is still in the running for a bronze. Jason Brown KILLED it, watch his program components suddenly take a huge leap tomorrow. I wouldn't be shocked if he moved up a few places if he knocked it out of the park. Dennis Ten broke my heart a little bit and wtf Peter Liebers, how did that happen?

I am shocked about that. The man is a machine and for him to withdraw means to me that something serious that he couldn't work around happened. Wow.

Jason Brown is so damn likable. Having no quad doesn't keep him from being a threat, which I love.

    I'm done and over Jeremy.

And since I'm no fan of Patrick, I'm picking and rooting for Hanyu for the gold.

Plushenko has also stated that he's now retired. So this is/was it. And yeah, that Japanese kid, Hanyu, made his quad jump look like it's just a normal, easy maneuver. He looked unbeatable, and his score reflected it.

Looking very briefly around it looks like there's some grumbles on behalf of Maxim Kovtun about this Plush thing, but you know, it can't be denied that he helped Russia win team gold. It sucks that they only had one spot for Sochi, though.

It was Kovtun's fault they only had one spot, notably after political machinations were used to get him to worlds last year in the first place, only for him to blow it. I'm not too torn up about it; he stole someone else's spot last year and lost the 2 spots to the Olympics, the second of which would have gone to him.
