Navratilova in Settlement Feud With Ex
By Julie Bolcer
The former partner of Martina Navratilova wants a monetary settlement she considers fair, or else she will reveal the tennis legend’s deepest secrets, reports the New York Post.
"There are a lot of skeletons in Martina's closet,” Toni Layton told the Page Six gossip sheet. “It is more like a storage facility full of them, and I know them all.”
Representatives for Layton, whose eight-year relationship with Navratilova ended last year, dismissed a proposed $200,000 flat settlement as an “insult,” considering all the support they say Layton provided the nine-time Wimbledon champion in their years together.
Layton left her husband for Navratilova, and the couple lived together in Florida.
“Navratilova is using Florida's failure to recognize gay marriage to her advantage,” said Layton’s spokesman, Gary Smith.
"We are standing up for gay rights in this case," said Raymond Rafool, the lawyer for Layton. "Toni has the right to obtain a fair settlement the same as if she were the spouse in a traditional marriage."
A spokesman for Navratilova had no comment.
