A lot of times, people (me too) are racist without being aware of it. For instance, the fact that beauty standards of our society are dominated by Caucasian features is, in itself, racist. That's why people say: "Her nose is too wide". What else is that "too wide" supposed to mean? After all, her nose is certainly not too wide for a black woman.

That's because it isn't racist. Negroid noses do tend to be wider than the caucasoid noses. What is racist is to say that a negroid nose is "too wide." Too wide for whom???? A nose is only "too wide" when it's disproportionate to the rest of the face, regardless of race.

Well let this be a lesson to you: Black people often get singled out and ridiculed and made to feel different and lesser than because of their dark skin, wide noses, big lips, big butts and nappy hair. Look up the word "jigaboo" if you don't believe me.

Black people don't get to choose their bone structure. So putting us down or speaking about us negatively for something over which we have no control is racist, pure and simple.

So instead of saying Rihanna (or Oprah or Tyra or whothefuckever) has a nose that is "too wide," I suggest saying "Her nose is big." And leave it at that.

First, I've never said her nose is too big for a black person. I read my very first post, an I'm sure of that. I sait it's large and that she should fix it asap.
Fort the thing "say large, not wide". Technically, a nose is wide, not large.
Most important: I'm not whishing for a quarrell, so I won't support things I'm not actually saying. I'm not talking of wide, flat, large, ect... I'm just saying that different races have differnt features.

I cannot deny I look white compared to other races, as you cannot deny you look browner. I cannot deny Caucasian people have almond eyes compared to other races, it's not possible to deny black people have wider (or larger, that's the same) noses compared to other races. I cannot deny the majority of russian people look fairy (hair, skin).

Wide noses, big lips and nappy hair are what kept Negroes off magazine covers until Beverly Johnson came on the scene. And even she had processed, straight hair. Why? Because wide noses, big lips and nappy hair were considered ugly.

But I think her nose nose is disproportionate. And I've seen many negroid noses that are "wide" and still perfectly fine. Rihanna's nose just isn't one of them, in my opinion.
