You guys, I just found this thread. I broke my nose back in high school playing water polo. I haven't been to a doctor but I'm 100% sure the septum is deviated as I literally can't breath out of one side at all. On top of that I have a serious dorsal hump. I've been following a Rhino doc out of Seattle on instagram for the past year and I'm so close to making an appt. with him (or someone a little closer to home). I just have to break it to my husband that I want this done...and figure out if insurance will cover any of it.
Good luck. When my son first deviated his septum we went to various doctors. They pretty much said the deviated septum would be covered under insurance, but reshaping/straightening/hump would be considered cosmetic so out of pocket.
When I was young, around 7, I got kneed in the nose playing freaking duck, duck, goose. My mother took me to ER, but they said it wasn't broken. I have a dorsal hump as well and hated it all through school. I've learned to like it, but seriously, if I had the extra cash, I'd go to a consultation to see about getting it shaved down a bit.
