My teapot can hold 6 cups, I've tried 4-6 bags in the past and I was never really satisfied with the taste. Either too weak or too strong.

    What does this mean? hob?
This is better done by placing it on the hob than by the usual method of swilling it out with hot water.

George was so specific! Ninthly, tenthly..

The way one "takes" their tea or coffee is very individual. I don't take sugar in coffee, I can't bear flavored coffee for that reason.

These are my tea preferences. Semi-traditional? Fairly common? Totally wrong?

Earl Grey and English Breakfast - drop of milk
    Jasmine - a little sugar
Green tea - nothing in it
Black tea - full teaspoon of sugar, milk

Jasmine green tea is the best. I drink all my teas plain. I swear I have a boring palette. I also love passion tea with lemonade and some stevia. Stole it from Starbucks.

Hob = cooktop (you know, the gas burners, electric rings, etc)

I have loose leaf jasmine green tea from Hong Kong. It smells wonderful, but it never makes a great pot of tea. It's bitter.

Am I using too much tea?

You might be letting it steep too long. I don't let it steep for longer than 3 minutes. Anything longer and it becomes bitter.

Gee, I steep my tea until it is nearly black, like 10-15 minutes. Waitresses are always trying to give me coffee refills....

Sadly, A*O, my prostate suffers more from lack of use that anything else.... .....and I'm thinking that was waaaaaay too much information for you .....

I can't drink green tea any more, I never leave the bathroom. And, I'm afraid that I will soon be reaching the age that I won't be able to have my evening cup after dinner either....sigh.....it was the one thing I could replace my after-dinner cigarette with.....I know, I know, I could walk.....ug......I'd rather stick stuff in my face.....

With green tea, you're supposed to soak it once, and then throw that water away and drink the second soak. You're also not supposed to soak it too long otherwise it turns bitter. This is what my grandpa told me, but I'm sure there's lots of methods to do it.

Thanks. I'm dumping the first water and just letting the leaves swirl. Might have to break down and buy a tea steeper to get the leaves out of the water.

Why do you throw the first soak away? Don't tell me it's some chinese luck thing.

Wow! It's just a cup of tea, guys... (LOL!)

How come none of you guy drink Assam? And Russian Caravan tea (from Whittards & malty) is just yummy! Did you know that you're supposed to add the tea to the milk & not the other way around because its "scalds" the milk or some such & changes the taste?
& I totally agree with A*O with the Dilmah brand. Its a one estate tea too as well as fair trade isn't it?
