Default Salsa Verde - Need a good recipe

Does anyone have a family recipe or one that tastes and looks even half autentic? Every recipe I've checked out on the net is different and I refuse to buy green, tasteless slop in a jar (which is almost impossible to find anyway). I know we have lots of members who probably have grandma's recipe - care to share? Thanks.

Use a strong blender.Put inside a cup of olive oil,a fistful of washed coriander leaves a big garlic clove some black pepper and salt.
Blend until smooth.Pour in a bowl, add two cups of strained yougurt ..done.
Without yougurt you use the salsa to marinate chicken breast bits all night and roast next day.
    You re welcome.

My grandma makes it with tomatillos, onion, cilantro, garlic, jalapenos, and lots of salt and lime juice. If I remember correctly she roasts/grills the tomatillos before she blends them. I'll email her for the recipe.

Thanks!!! I suspect every family has its own "secret recipe" so it will be fun trying them out to find the best one. I found some in a tin the other day and it was totally foul. Home-made has to be better.

I have never in all of my Mexican life used cilantro, onion, olive oil, pepper, etc. in a basic salsa verde. All I use is tomatillos, jalapenos and or/serrano peppers, garlic and salt. You can roast the tomatillos and chiles, or boil them; then just throw in the blender with a garlic glove or two, add salt, and blend away! On average, I use about 10 tomatillos for every 6 or 7 jalapenos/serranos, but my husband likes very spicy salsa.
