Default The Best Chocolate Chip Cake

I am a huge cooker/baker, so I am going to post some of the best dessert recipes I have.

This cake is so freaking good, it's the best homemade chocolate cake I have ever had. It's really moist and rich, great with ice cream. If you don't have sour cream, you can substitute it with apple sauce and still get great results. It's for die hard chocolate lovers, epecially if you frost it with chocolate frosting!

    • 1 (18.25 ounce) package Devil's Food cake mix
    • 1 (3.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
    • 1 cup vegetable oil
    • 4 eggs
    • 1/2 cup hot water
    • 1 cup sour cream (can also substitute 1 cup of apple sauce)
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a Bundt pan.
    2. Combine cake mix, pudding mix, oil, eggs, water, sour cream, and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Stir in chocolate chips. Pour batter into prepared pan. (I use a bundt cake pan)
    3. Bake for 1 hour. Allow to cool.

Thanks for sharing. I try to cook a dessert every Sunday for Mr. Sweetpants. I will give this one a try this week.

No problem! It's super delicious and since it's so chocolatey, a small piece does the trick!

My sister makes this. Her recipe book called it, "Damn Good Chocolate Cake", and it really is. She's now required to make it at all family get togethers. She once substituted out the sour cream for apple sauce and while still good, no where near as delicious as with the sour cream.

This cake will also hold for a week and not be stale or hard.

Yes, the sour cream definitely makes it taste the best!

^ Oh Mr. Sweetpants loved it. I made it for him when you originally posted it. I don't eat sweets, but I will let you know what the rest of the crowd has to say.

**my mom is making a chocolate cake and I hope this cake blows her's out of the water.**

    ???
I have made this twice now, but was wondering.....what size instant pudding do you use? I can't find one that is 3.9 ounces, so I just used the large box. haha

I use the smaller box, it says 3.9 oz on it. It's like 2 inches by 3 inches big.
