Default Crock Pot Recipes

I dusted off my old crock pot...what do you use it for besides the basic stew? Any suggestions? I haven't used mine in ages.

You can bake potatoes in them. Wrap them in foil & let them slow cook all day.

I make crock pot pulled pork and sort of a spagetti/lasagna mixture of noodles, meat, cheese and spagetti sauce.

Oh my gosh I did the same thing Mrs. Gator on Sunday. But I just did pulled pork.
I found a Enchilda Casserole Crock Pot dish a few years ago. But I have revamped it to the family's taste.
Now this is depending on how big a crock pot you have too, I have a good size one.

2lbs ground beef cooked with taco seasoning
2 packages of Mahama spanish rice cooked
2 cans refried beans or black beans (ill change it up)
10 count package flour tortillas, I usually go to our local Mexican resturant and get about 12 freshly made flour tortillas
Shredded cheddar cheese

So what I do is put the meat mixture on the bottom to cover, refried beans/beans, rice, cheese then usually three flour tortillas to cover. The repeat the layering. Ill start the crock pot at about 1pm and by 6pm its ready and I always keep it on low. I dont make it all the time usually in the fall, Im not sure why. My husband loves it which really surprised me.
You can add onions, jalapeno peppers, roasted red peppers, really anything you want.
Last week I made Italian Chicken with Tomatoes. Threw in 2 lbs chicken thighs, 2 14 oz cans of diced tomato but I found two was too much, 8 oz container of fresh sliced mushrooms and that was it. Cooked it for 4 hours on high. Oh I added italian seasoning and lots of garlic. Made angel hair pasta and my husband liked that one too. Next time I make it I will use more chicken thighs.
I will look at my "notebook" of recipes cause I know I have more for the crock pot since last summer that is all I cooked with.

I made the biggest most badass hot pot ever the other night. So easy too. Which is good for me as I will never make it as a cordon bleu chef .

2 packs cubed steak
2 onions chopped
Handfull of sliced mushrooms
3-4 OXO cubes
Cubed potatoes
Sliced Carrots
1 tablespoon mustard
Dash of Soy Sauce
Salt & Pepper to taste
Jug of instant Gravy

While your onions are 'sweating' with the steak with crumbled oxo's and mustard, soy, s & p - take about three hours labouriously chopping all the other veg and missing vital digits with sharp knife.

Pile all the potatoes and carrots in a big crock pot. Scrape your now cooked steak and onions, pour in jug of gravy. Mix well and put in preheated oven on max power and wait 3 hours. - It's worth the wait

Hmm...now where is that crock pot I bought and never used?

A friend makes stewed fruit in his. Rhubarb with sugar and ginger is especially good.

We wouldn't eat home cooked meals if we didn't have a crock pot. I throw partially thawed meat in the crock pot along with vegetables and leave for work. Come home, food is cooked, house smells great and even cheap cuts are fork tender.

Favorites are crock pot turkey breast and Italian wedding soup.

zorbeet, so any kind of meat? Beef, chicken, turkey, whatever? And any kind of veggies? Any seasoning or liquid?

I haven't used my crock pot in a long time. I go through little stages where I try to use it a lot, then up & away it goes.

I found out that soup with pasta in it does NOT do well if you let the pasta cook too long. It gets way soggy & gross. I guess it should go end at the last minute.

Oh I love Italian Wedding soup YUMMY for my tummy
I cant ever just throw stuff in the crock pot I have to follow a recipe. Im afraid I wont put enough liquid except for beans. I just cant understand that when you cook meat you dont really add liquid.

How funny, I pulled out my crock pot last night and made enchilada casserole for my husbands lunch today....

2 lbs cooked meat, mixed in with one can of cream of mushroom soup, chopped onion and green chile.

Pour a small amount of Red Chili sauce on the bottom of crock pot, layer corn tortillas on top, add 1/3 of beef mixture then cheese. Layer two more times.

Cook 4-5 hours on low.

Mmmmmm, its really good. I love to also make lasagna in there. You can cook ANYTHING in a crockpot that you can put in an oven, even breads and desserts.

Sorry, seat of the pants cook.

I use beef, chicken breast, pork loin, turkey breast and literally throw in what ever vegetables we have on hand. My crock pot works out best with the veggies layered on the bottom. Just throw in a little bit of broth, salt and pepper.

I cook rice casseroles in mine as well. Just allow 2x the amount of liquid for the rice. ( 1 cup rice 2 cups liquid) and add grated cheese and seasonings. If you want stir in some frozen peas at the end.

Have to try the crock pot liners. Hate cleaning the things.
