Sounds easy and simple, I think I might make this.
No substitutions on these ingredients!
1 3/4 cup cake flour
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, preferrably European and dark
1 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup real butter softened
2/3 cup white sugar
2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 cup sour cream
1 cup buttermilk
Preheat oven to 350F. Line bottoms of cake pans with waxed paper, Grease paper and sides of pans. Dust with flour. Mix flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. In another bowl beat butter and sugars till fluffy and fully mixed. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla. At low speed alternately add flour mixture and buttermilk and sour cream until just blended. Do not over mix. Divide batter between prepared pans. Bake cakes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, around 30 minutes. Cool, turn out pans and remove waxed paper.

This sounds simple and delicious. I'm going to try it next week.
Does anybody have an equally simple recipe for a gooey, decadent chocolate frosting? If I could make the two, my daughter would be in 7th heaven!
me too!![]()
I love sour cream chocolate cake. There's a recipe in one of my mom's old church lady cookbooks with a recipe similar to this.
