Peanut butter cookie recipe please

i just made the one on the kraft peanut butter jar and it was super easy but they are not that interesting. there is no depth to the taste which is to be expected considering it's only 3 ingredients but you know the really good peanut butter recipes that melt in your mouth but yet still chewy/nice?

anyways any suggestions would be appreciated very much.

Here's one from the Penny Pounds cookbook "New Orleans & Deep South Recipes: Cooking for the Family" This is the one I use.

1 cup shortening or butter
2 1/4 cups all purpose sifted flour
1 cup sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup peanut butter

Mix in the order above. Shape into balls and place onto cookie sheet. Take a fork and make a tic-tac-toe mark on top. Bake for 10-15 minutes at 300 degrees.

Well, nothing in New Orleans is ever low fat, except for perhaps the water and even then I'm not sure they don't add bacon grease.

Have you ever tried to make the cookie that is basically a peanut butter cookie rolled in sugar and then after they come out of the oven, you put Hershey kiss in the middle? Those things are addictive! I make them every Christmas and me and the kids fight over them.

I found this recipie online. I've never had these before so I dont know how they'd turn out. However, I love peanut butter. LOVE peanut butter. I'm a freak, I know.

Peanut Butter Kisses

1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar, plus more for rolling
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
11 ounces milk chocolate candy kisses

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
2. Cream together peanut butter, shortening and sugars; Add eggs, milk and vanilla; beat well.
3. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; Add to creamed mixture, Beat well.
4. Shape into 1-inch balls; roll in additional sugar.
5. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet about 8 minutes.
6. Remove from oven and press a candy kiss into the center of each warm cookie.
7. Return to oven and bake 3 minutes more.

That's the recipe! I cheat sometimes and buy the package peanut butter cookie mix, roll the cookie balls in sugar, and then when they come out of the oven, put the Hershey kiss in the middle straight away so it melts into it making it hooey gooey. GOD. Going to the store right now!
