Any recipes for a simple seafood chowder?
I cannot emphasize simple enough!.. Also not so concerned about calories or health with this one...more on simplicity and good taste! (any cheaper substitutions for ingredient included would be greatly also)

Re: Any recipes for a simple seafood chowder?
How about this?
Dice a large onion.
Ditto for a couple of stalks of celery.
Ditto for two garlic cloves.
Sautee in olive oil until translucent.
Add about three cups milk, and about two cups of chicken or veggie stock.
Dice a couple of potatoes and add to mixture.
Season with salt, pepper, a bay leaf and a little cayenne or paprika for colour/heat.
Put any kind of fish, cut up, into broth and bring to boil. Simmer for a while until tender.
Serve.

this sounds good. I have a ton of dried milk (from ex-roommate) so i could use that too I guess. I usually also have most of these ingredients too. would butter be ok to add extra richness/flavor?(I buy it on sale and freeze it)? How about a spash of wine?(what kind would be cheap/good? I could use those wine cubes I am thinking of making from some cheap ass wine! )
*I wonder if you could use a hand blender on this to make it have the consistency similar to Lobster bisque?*

I've used dried/powdered milk in my cereal when I had run out of real milk and it tasted really different from real milk, you'd prolly know though Sojiita. I'd use real milk in this recipe if I were you.

A combo of butter and oil would be good. A good splash of white wine wouldn't go astray. And you could definitely puree it. Some parsley would work, too. Lots of variations. I think I would use half powdered milk and half fresh if you really want to use some powdered. You could also add some cream for a richer flavour.

Yes! Corn is always a welcome addition.
