Oh, I love these!! My favorite Chinese restaurant serves them before the meal and I'm usually the only one in the group who likes them, so they all get passed to me! YUM!!!
I'll take a nice ripe tomato sliced up with just a touch of salt any day.

Re: Best simple food
I love crusty bread with oliva oil and balsamic vinegar. Dipping the bread in.
Avacado is from heaven, can't eat enough of it.
Crackerbread with guacamole.
Not really simple cos it takes a while but oven-baked potato with cheese and beans... Mmm getting hungry.

Love 'em too! There is a chain down here called Wolfie Cohen's and they serve this at the table along with pickles and non-dairy cole slaw. So good!

Yes it's less dense than a cracker, more airy! And really delicious.

Re: Best simple food
My mum does a version of the cucumbers. She serves them with cream and plenty of salt and pepper. Don't think she uses vinegar though. It's very good.

Re: Best simple food
Sliced vine-fresh tomatoes - shredded fresh basil leaves - crumbled feta cheese - drizzle of olive oil - fresh crusty french bread. Fit for a queen.
