I'd say you pay the high prices for the name and the aesthetics... face it: the cheap stuff doesn't come in emblazoned compacts or stylish containers.

That being said, I, for one, love opening up my makeup bag and pulling out my Les Quartre Ombres de Chanel eyeshadow compacts, or my Diorshow mascara tube.

Diorshow, by the way, is amazing.

I used to use only dept store brands and I still love some products by Estee Lauder,Benefit, Clinique, Cargo, etc. I love Sephora! However, Revlon is penny for penny the best quality cosmetic out there as far as i'm concerned. Their ColorStay shadows, liner, foundation all stay on all day and their ColorStay lipsticks are great, as are the MoonDrops ones. I use so much mascara that I cannot or will not pay over $10 a tube. I loved CoverGirl Lash Exact and Lash Blast but I'm trying to only stick with companies that don't animals test, and Revlon companies do not. Their mascara isn't up to my standards, so i'll continue to look. Also, Ulta gives a lot of product and their shadows are top notch, as well as frequently being on sale for BOGOfree. makeUp Alley has been a godsend for finding top notch products and for finding out which high end ones are overrated. i am a sucker for pretty packaging, though, and cannot bear to pull anything ugly out of my makeup bag. I'm a total makeup whore and I have at least 60 lipsticks, 40 shadows, 4 blushers, 5 different face powders and I've recently narrowed it down to only 6 or so eyeliners since I found the ColorStay ones. No joke.

It looks so rich with color. I already love it (but need some severe lessons with eyeshadow -I use liner, with maybe one shade in the crease for highlighting). It doesn't look like it has those ridiculous shimmery, sparkling things in it like the cheaper eyeshadows do - looks like a little body glitter was snuck into the eyeshadow. Also looks like the color stays true and doesn't fade.

I'm still learning how people use shadow as liner by wetting the brush and then applying - doesn't that ruin the eyeshadow by putting it into contact with that moisture?

Ulta has its own line? Does it have lip liners or eyeliners? Those are the things I use the most.

hmmnnn I think I'm sophisticated when I use 'Boots no 7' which is el cheapo stuff!

I do have some Clinique and Maybelline but I am a fan of bright colours when it comes to eyeshadow, and don't want to spend too much on a colour I'll wear maybe three times a year. Barry M cosmetics are my friend.
