It's a boondoggle. Some companies can employ a firm to conduct the animal testing. Or they have a supplier test the raw materials on animals. Then they can still claim that they do not conduct animal testing. PR double back spin.

EU has drafted standards to eliminate animal testing in the cosmetic industry in two stages. If it is implemented as written, it is essentially a marketing ban of animal tested products. If this is an issue you feel strongly about, buy a product that is made in the EU.

The EU also seems to produce items of higher quality and they have more stringent safety standards with regard to the use of certain ingredients. I've never had the skin irritation with European products that I have with products made elsewhere.

^^I agree. I ordered an organic skincare line from Germany recently after testing it out locally. Incredible stuff.

The hair care products I've recently switched to are amazing. Rene Furterer. Love it. They are all made in France.

This is why I was wondering about L'Oreal. Their professional line, Kerastase, is made in France. Or at least some of the line is.

Well I guess for the poor folks we just wont be washing, wearing make up or doing our hair color.

Gotta save the animals ya know.

There are a number of cruelty-free products that aren't particularly expensive. Even Wal-Mart sells Avalon skincare products that are reasonably priced, organic and cruelty free. You could do a Google search and I'm sure you'd find other brands, too. I don't see anything wrong with having good, affordable products that are also cruelty-free.

A lot of companies, like Trader Joes, have pretty inexpensive products that aren't tested on animals. Cosmetics and household products. I love Avalon. They carry that line at CVS. Good drugstore brands are Alba, Kiss My Face and JASON.

I'm curious as to how they test Playtex products on animals. If they do it the way I'm picturing it in my head.... well....

Well, since I already posted in this thread, it was a pretty easy guess. Other people also responded, did you know they were going to respond?

I don't know what products those prices refer to, so I can't really answer your question. We tend to pay a lot more for the same products in Canada than what is charged in the States, so my sense of what is affordable is probably going to be dlifferent than yours. I think anything under the $10-$15 range is pretty reasonable, but I have no idea of your budget so I can't speak to what is affordable for you. Sorry.

I dont know why the fuck you follow me around and post but EVERYONE knows you do it. We place bets. Im up by 7 points. Thanks.

and in ref to the thread .... I guess I will just annoy animal lovers. I dont plan on buying anything that costs over $1 for 16 oz. $3 for conditioner 32oz.
Then I water it all down because I dont need a dry scalp or dry skin.

You dont need fancy anything to have beautiful hair.

Who is "EVERYONE" and who is "we?" *confused* .

It would be very difficult for most people to find decent products at the prices you mention, but more power to you.

Suave is less than $1 here.... and TreSemme is less than $3 ... so with 5 women in one home, we use what is affordable to us.

Care to be anymore condescending PB? More power to you.
