Question L'Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Primer

So I got this b/c I had my makeup done the other day and I was explaining my black-head and pore issue to the lady and she told me to try a primer! A primer?! wtf is that? how come no one ever told me about this?!

Is it a complete waste or does this shit work?

Before I was just using clearasol under my foundation or lotion and hoping I could go another day w/o my pores getting clogged....

L'Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base Primer, 0.

as much as I know about certain shit, I'm really clueless when it comes to basic knowledge of womanhood

I've never tried that one, but I use Clinique Pore Minimzer T Zone control as a primer and I really like it. I'm oily with large pores, and it helps my makeup stay on.

Dermabrasion is good for blackheads. Have you tried that?

^ no i haven't actually surprisingly! I feel like its a never ending fucking battle. my mom says that I just need to invest in monthly facials, expensive imo, but something I gotta start doing. I'm not a kid anymore (hello I'm 28) its time I woman-up if I want to keep my face decent. which i would like to do! plus I've had life-long skin issues since I was 8 years old, my mom too, so she's probably right about this, damnit.

It's good to have oily skin, it stays young looking. The downside is the big pores and blackheads. I've tried everything too, I know how you feel. Have you tried retin a? I use it, and it makes a difference in my pores and bhd's. But even with that I still have to extract those little bastards sometimes. I have a 7x magnifying mirror and every so often I get it out and start squeezing. I also wash and tone with strong glycolic products. And my oil still comes.

I'm going to do dermabrasion, I've been reading up on it and I think it would be good for my kind of skin. It runs about the same as a facial in price, here it's about $100 for a treatment.

I use Monistat Anti-chafing gel as a primer. Don't laugh. It rocks. I started a thread about it. Just be careful not to put it on your forehead if you plan on sweating. I did, got some in my eyes and almost blinded myself. It's great as a primer. Your skin is becomes so smooth. It helps with large pores too. Just be sure to let it completely dry before you put make-up on it.

As for large pores, I am cursed with them. I've done a lot of research. One treatment, Laser Genesis, seems to really make a difference. It also helps with redness and wrinkles. As soon as I can afford it, I'm going to try it. Here's an article where the reviewer said her pores shrunk by 75%!

It's fascinating how Prep H and a Monistat product are good for the face in addition to their originally intended areas!

Alice - I bought Smashbox gel primer after getting a tester sample at Sephora. If I want to have a done up face like a sheet of glass, I use moisturizer, primer and Giorgio Armani foundation. At first I thought primers were a marketing thing, but it really works for me. I tested Makeup Forever's too, Sephora's brand and Laura Geller's "Spackle" and Smashbox was my fave. They have a small tube for $16 that looks like it will last forever.

I practically collect concealers and the primer prevents the under eye concealer from settling under my eyes, so I can now use any concealer I like.

Alice, listen to your mother. Start getting regular facials. Take care of your skin now or it will take care of you later!
Use a primer & the eyelid primer.too. That way your make up stays of ages longer. Also, if you are oily, blot with those blotting tisues. I like Clinque for that.
Money spent on skin care is money well spent.

Avon also sells one called Magix Face Perfector. They have it in a no color version or tinted.
