    Default Fake tan

On a whim, I tried Neutrogena's MicroMist Tanning Sunless Spray in medium. I followed all the instructions. Firstly, it stinks! It's supposed to develop in two to four hours and "last for days". Nothing seemed to happen in six hours so I thought, what the hell, I'll put up with the stink overnight and see what happens by morning. I awoke looking faintly jaundiced. On a scale from nothing to OMFG TOTAL LIVER FAILURE!!!!, it rates as meh, not that bad go get some sun and break down the bilirubin. So I had a shower to get rid of the stink and it seems to have all washed off.

Anyone else know of any other products to try or avoid?

lol twitch. i've had pretty bad experiences with self-tanners back in the day, before i said fuck it and embraced my paleness. the only one i ever had that was good was a clarins, ages ago, i don't know if they still make it. it was good because it was moisturiser with a little bit of self-tanner, so it was very subtle. which is what you want, when you're as white as i am. you have to apply it every day and it builds up slowly. the good part was it didn't smell too bad, and it dried quickly so you didn't have to stand naked with your arms outstretched for half an hour. the bad part is you had to be diligent and apply it every day to see the colour actually build up. it looked really natural though.
so my advice is, if you want to self-tan, go with that kind of moisturiser with just a bit of self-tanner mixed in. or make your own by mixing moisturiser and a good self-tanner.

I've tried oh so many products and none of them worked. Last year I went to a spa and had a spray tan and was thrilled with the results. The woman actually sprayed me and not a machine and it last 7 days for around $35. Of course the other 51 weeks of the year I'm pale and proud.

Banana Boat Sun Dial is excellent. it's a moisturizing self tanner that lets you choose how dark to go. It comes in different degrees also. I bought the kind for lighter skin tones. It smells pleasant and absorbs fairly quickly. It's nice and gradual, you won't wake up orange, and it didn't stain my hands like some do even after you wash!
After living in Seattle for 2 years, I have learned to embrace my pastiness too. This stuff was great when preparing for a vacation out of the freakin rain!

I'm using Jergens Natural Glow which is about 12 dollars. I was afraid of being the color of a yam overnight, so I decided on one of the gradual tanners. It has something of a yellowish tint, and requires several days of use to be really noticeable. I'm not using it this month because I'm out on the beach a lot now and my legs are getting tanner (slowly).

Oh yes, I like the Jergens too. I tried the Jergens Firming Tanner. That stuff is wonderful. Thanks for reminding me!

I swear by Loreal sublime bronze pro perfect airbrush. Less that $10. Ive tried them alllllllll. This one has zero odor. Just shake the can, spray it on and it dries instantly. It doesnt rub off or sweat off. No streaking. I apply it after an evening shower and in the morning a nice warm color. I indoor 2 days a week and use this spray twice a week. Keeps everything nice and even. I use the medium, natural tan

i've never used a fake tan in my life and i'm this close to buying it. it only has great reviews and it's really cheap.

I've given up on fake tans and had to settle for being corpse coloured. I've tried several types over the years but most of the ones for pale skin either made me look grubby or like I was ill. I've also tried one of the moisteriser types but applying it every day to build up colour was time consuming and it rubbed off whenever I wore my boots, leaving me with deathly white feet. As a redhead I can't tan naturally (just sizzle, burn, peel and back to white) but just for once I'd like to have a hint of a glow.

    Pale and proud here

My skin is so pale it's see through. I can see veins over my entire body. And I like it. I've tried tanning but it looks wrong on me. So now I do everything I can to stay pale .

^^ mine too! If I am cold, you can see all of the red/purple veins everywhere. Its like a map to my cardiovascular system, lol. You can see through my skin!

I gave up tanning beds years ago, when I got skin cancer at age 19, but I still do the sunless tanners. Mostly because I get sick of being picked on.
