The Middle East is a basket case - always was, always will be - and it all boils down to religion one way or another.

I do think that I'll see a WWIII in my life. THere's too much god damn hate in this world and it's over stupid shit like oil and different relgious beleifs. I hate seeing people getting bombed and hearing reports of civillians being killed by governments and militas. Makes me wish that countries did'nt exist and that these weapons were'nt created.
Listening to TWOP, Washington Post radio and Public Radio today as I've been doing the housecleaning/errand running and I have to say that the rhetoric on both sides and on the international front is scaring the crap out of me. We may well be plunging into the final days here.
Why can't John Lennon's utopia vision of a world without war be a reality? I feel sorry for the younger generations tonight.
Oh come on, the final days would take nuclear launches from all major powers, that's not going to happen. Let the middle east dungheaps waste each other for all I care, it's what they want. Maybe they've finally grown the cojones to do it.

John Lennon's Imagine also said imagine no religion, heaven or hell and I believe in all those things without being defined by one particular belief. Atheism is not the answer.
I do not believe he was referring to atheism in the song. That would be the too simplistic explaination and he was nothing if not complex. It's impossible to listen to his music and not think he didn't have some sort of spirituality. Personally I cannot wait to get to heaven just so I can see the many different faces/disguises of God. I don't know all the answers so I'm not going to discount anything and restrict Him to one narrow way of thinking. Similarly I'm not going to ascribe just one meaning to Lennon's song.Originally Posted by DirtyPool

It's been going on for centuries and we are naive if we think it's ever going to change. The US has traditionally supported the Isreali, specifically the Zionist agenda and needs to take a long hard look at that particular policy but with Dubya allegedly in charge I doubt it will happen. Like I say, the religious hotheads on both sides are never going to agree on anything, including any kind of long term peaceful settlement, so there's really nothing anyone can do.

Atheism isn't the answer? LOL
I love absolute statements with nothing to back it up.
What would you call: Never being particularely interested in religion, God, and never felt a need or want for it/them/him

Just because you've never felt the need for a higher power or had any interest in a God doesn't negate the possibility that He might actually exist.
But it also doesn't negate the possibility he doesn't.

Which is fine.
Believe it or not it's not the goal of every Christian to convert everyone in his/her path to their belief system. I've always been a firm believer that it's all personal. I wouldn't mention it to you or harange you on it but if you were to ask me about it I would respond. We all have free will.
