Because he ISN'T making homophobic remarks. He'd have no platform at all if he was...NO ONE would vote for him. He has said they are going to allow people to VOTE and the majority will decide on same-sex marriages.

Re: Real agenda: Canadian conservative makes anti-gay remarks. Shock.
Ok, here's a little lesson on minority rights:
MINORITY RIGHTS ARE NEVER DECIDED BY A MAJORITY. If it was, minorities would never GET rights.
Christ on a stick, he's doing the same fucking thing as banning same-sex marriage (despite being enshrined in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms) except he's packaging it in faux-democracy to appeal to those who don't think.
If he dares try taking away my RIGHTS, i will shove a protest sign so far up his narrow christian ass he'll see cardboard coming out his mouth.
I will *not* have my life and my love dictated to me by some right-wing shit slice.
Secondly, *he* himself isn't making homophobic remarks right now, but 3 years ago he was. 2 Years ago he was. In that time, his stupid party members have been making all sorts, and the conservative dipshit in the article above did, and he's in the party.
Anybody who buys into Harpers sudden 'transformation' or 'repackaging' is an idiot. He's just keeping his face shut cuz he knows its good for him.

Re: Real agenda: Canadian conservative makes anti-gay remarks. Shock.
Something tells me "someone" can't take a joke, but here it is anyway:
The Center for Disease Control has issued a warning about a new, virulent
strain of Sexually Transmitted Disease.
The disease is called Gonorrhea Lectim (pronounced "gonna re-elect
him"), and it is contracted through dangerous, high-risk behavior. Many
victims contracted it in 2005, after having been screwed repeatedly during the previous 11 years.
Symptoms of individuals infected with Gonorrhea Lectim include: impaired
judgment, delusions of grandeur with messianic overtones, inability to learn from past mistakes, xenophobia, paranoia, inability to accept responsibility for one's own actions, misplaced bravado, smugness
with uncontrolled facial smirking, amnesia for geography and history, tendencies towards evangelical theocracy, and categorical all-or-nothing
behavior.
There is a profound loss of memory - particularly where sponsorship and
kick-back money are concerned - and utter disregard for laws and convention.
Misplaced fears bordering on paranoia are evident, particularly when
confronted with any form of authority figure. This is manifested
with an insane belief that firearms are the root of all crime.
Epidemiologists believe this destructive disease originated only a few
years ago from a "little guy" from the area of Shawinigan PQ. Athough a
carrier of the malady, he has overcome all effects and is thriving.

Re: Real agenda: Canadian conservative makes anti-gay remarks. Shock.
And you seriously believe the Conservatives are any less corrupt?
Besides, everyone who was implicated in the sponsorship scandal no longer works for the current administration. I believe everything that can be done to rectify the situation has been done, and that Canadians should stop being such idiots and doing this punishment voting thing. If the Conservatives are voted in, Canada as we know it is done. DONE. Take a look to the South. If that's what you want us to turn in to, then go ahead and vote Conservative. Fine. If you want practically a fascist dictatorship, then vote Conservative. But when our country is swimming in debt, and there no government incentive to help you left, don't start crying.

Re: Real agenda: Canadian conservative makes anti-gay remarks. Shock.
Well to my neighbors up there, I just hope you don't vote for a conservative government. Just think about the word "Conservative", that means "to preserve traditional values, morals, etc". Since time and people change, it's important to know that society itself must change along with the times. If a country votes in a "traditional" government in modern times, then there will be backlash, ignorance, and xenophobia that comes outta that government. Just look at the Bush administration and figure it out, We don't need 2 "traditional" governments on one continent.
Just saying.*goes to research Canadian politics*

I think you need to check your own memory. GST? Huge deficits? Brian Mulroney?
Stephen Harper may have changed his appearance, and his tune, but he hasn't changed the ultra right-wing, fundamentalist ideology that formed him. He'll bring it out soon enough.
And what kind of bullshit it is when a potential leader like Harper feels compelled to say as he did today, in a pathetic attempt to pretend to be something he is NOT, that he can't implement his scary ideology because of the Liberal-stacked Senate and senior bureaucrats? WTF?
Now that is a pathetic first in Canadian politics, perhaps politics ANYWHERE. Doesn't any of this make you wonder what he is really up to?

Dracko knows what he's up to, and likes it. I thought that would be patently obvious. He thinks religious fundamentalism, trickle-down economics that don't work, slash and burn spending and cozying up to the US is great.

Re: Real agenda: Canadian conservative makes anti-gay remarks. Shock.
Anyone seen Rick Mercer's blog entry? http://rickmercer.blogspot.com/2006/...vealed_09.html
(assuming this is true...)
STOCKWELL DAY?! WTF?!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the ONLY damn difference between the Liberals and any other political party out there is that they got caught in a huge way. They're all corrupt to some degree. I just can't wrap my head around the Reform...er...Conservative platform. ICK.

Re: Real agenda: Canadian conservative makes anti-gay remarks. Shock.
I just googled "Stephen Harper pictures" and 1. Why does he always look like he is wearing lipstick/blush and foundation? 2.The second thing that came up was "Is Stephen Harper a closet homosexual?" 3. Not far down was something referring to him as an android and something else about him being "stuck in the closet"..what is up with this guy????...I wonder if he was one of the clients of Jeff "Bulldog" Gannon?

No no no. I've said it before, I'll say it again. Stephen Harper is your friend's weird uncle who always stares at you when you go over to their house, and who you are pretty sure you saw dressed as a woman at the grocery store the other day...

So that's where I've seen him!
And I think he's sporting eye-liner most of the time, too.

Have to admit he's got that look Clinton had a while back: paunchy, ruddy complexsion (sp?). Said in our paper that Jack Layton exercises for at least an hour a day. Have to say he is the only one who looks like he's sweated (from working out) in a really long time!
