I would love to visit the country side there too; it looked like fun on Absolutely Fabulous!! but the wine from Northern California is just as great!
Alice, you just described Chalet to a T. I'm such a Francophile. Sometimes you just click with a place. The first time I was there I felt like I was home. It can't be explained. But we can still be friends, n'est ce pas?

As for Sarkozy - I just learned a new word for "scum". "Pourriture"

    Oui ou non, La Folie?

He said "racaille", actually, Chalet, not "pourriture".

I know.. the silly thing is that I learned Parisian french in school, and then went to quebec to try to use it.. couldn't understand a thing they were saying.

Parisian is so much more musical.. quebecois is coarse and hideous, but fantastic for swearing in

My 20 yo nephew will spend a year in Montreal as a journalist at a radio station,he studies at Rennes uni and go to Canada as part of his studies.
He worries about his Parisian accent a lot.
Now,his mom would like to know if it will be cheaper to buy heavy winter clothes in Paris or Montreal.
    Any ideas?
