Our crime isn't that bad. We get helicopters like once a week but we have ALOT of police driving around all the time. We can't go anywhere without seeing a cop car.

I live in a little village and it is pretty quiet. There is the occasional theft of a lawnmower from someone's shed, and the odd burglary.

People here still talk about the time several years ago when a drunk teenager stole a tractor with a sprayer on the back of it to get home from the pub, and damaged several cars and a wall on his way through the village - that's how exciting it is.

I just looked on my state's sex offender registry & there are TONS of sex offenders registered near me. I live near downtown, so it's not surprising, but a little bit scary. I'm glad I'm moving soon.

I should probably think about it that way...the large police presence is here too. You could not swing a dead cat without it hitting a cop here. Same with the helicopters. At least the police are around to get the criminals.

Uh oh - Sunday pm here and there's a squadron of F16 fighters buzzing the city. I am being Alert Not Alarmed (the Aussie anti-Turrist mantra). It's probably preps for the Commonwealth Gamezzzzzzzzzzz that start on Wed for 2 weeks of elite sporting action (and total traffic gridlock). Or maybe Osama's in town??

Hmmmm, well I live in a really LAW and ORDER town where everyone is really strict. They caught the mayor smoking crack with a 'ho in a hotel room and a few years later he held elected ofice again. And DC was the murder capital of the planet for many years.

Then you and I live very near each other. Remember when Marion Barry got busted with Rasheeda. The bitch set him up! He's going to jail this time for tax evasion. wonder if he'll run from prison again?

All this talk of crime and bad areas of town makes me remember what a former coworker of mine does in an effort to mess with the illegal aliens of NoVa. Every Saturday he drives his truck around the little local places illegals congregate trying to get day labor jobs for cash. He fills the back with Mexicans, telling them he has a big job for them to do helping dig the hole for his swimming pool and then he drives the whole lot of them, 6 or 7, straight to the local immigration office. As soon as they get within eyesight of the sign proclaiming it's the immigration office they all start hopping around like popcorn popping in the back, jumping out while the truck is still moving. Cruel but kind of funny to watch.

^^that is just pure evil!!( ) and I think the f-16's must be for Godzilla or something else down there(where all the weird, deadly animals are). DC crime is the best because along with the regular crime you get all of the political graft and corruption as a bonus!

Yikes, I agree! Not to mention he doesn't fear death by shooting!

Where I live currently, I hear sirens all the time... every night. I live in a fairly small town, but we have some of the highest meth use in the entire country. I'm sick of hearing about meth labs... meth this meth that, meth meth meth.

Where I'll soon be moving, crime isn't so high, so I'm glad about that.

Hubby works across the street from Union Station and we live in one of the Virginia suburbs, the one where Christopher Reeve broke his neck.
